However, I found the flavors to be a bit underwhelming compared to my expectations of how Asian bakeries typically taste; they seemed a touch too mild and lacked seasoning. On the brighter side, there's a small café that serves dim sum, milk tea, and steamed pork buns, which are quite tasty, along with other Chinese baked goods and meals. I would definitely return for the steamed buns and to try their egg tarts.
I give 5 stars for the mochi! We sampled the mango (with coconut and peanut filling), honeydew (also with coconut and peanut filling), and taro (filled with black sesame). The mochi skin was perfectly flavored, offering a subtle sweetness and fruity taste that didn’t come across as artificial. They are very generous with the filling as well.
A true treat for both your taste buds and your wallet, this iconic bakery in the heart of Montreal’s Chinatown is a must-visit for delicious snacks to enjoy on the spot or to take home. I didn’t get a chance to photograph my baked (not steamed) barbecue pork bun, but it was light, flavorful, sweet, and savory. While I would have preferred a slightly better meat-to-dough ratio, at just $3, I’ll simply plan to order two next time. The bakery now accepts credit and debit cards, which is a recent improvement. The service was also friendly and efficient.
This is a fantastic place! The only issue I encountered was that very few staff members spoke English. However, the staff was very accommodating and did their best to answer my questions.
The selection of delicious and visually appealing pastries is impressively large. The cat-shaped buns and cakes are absolutely adorable! The service is quick, too.
