Pizzeria Magpie - Montréal

We loved the freshness of the salad and the tastiness of this meal. It doesn't look fancy but the food is very good! The meatball pizza was delicious and the bolognese pasta was seriously good.

We went here for supper, great meatball pizza, both my wife and I had one each. And to add to the enjoyment, theres a young gentleman playing the piano, and he pretty good.

We last dined at Magpie about a year ago so, being in the mood for oysters and pizza, we went again last night. The oysters are so fresh and nicely presented with lots of condiments to choose from. Our fav was the freshly grated horseradish. Delicious. Then we had the meatball pizza and the Bianco pizza. Both gobbled down quickly. As well we had the pasta dish of the day which was a spagetti with grilled shrimp. The shrimp had clearly been marinated and had a delightful flavour....could of eaten a whole plate of them. The spagetti was also in a light sauce, perhaps a wine, butter garlic mixture and again, we could have had a whole bowl of just that. We were very pleased with the food and the dessert was a new creation. Chocolate roll with perhaps a mascaparone cheese, fresh blueberries and a dallop of creme fraiche. Well-matched with a cappucino. Worth the calories.

The level of service warrants a 1 star. The food is more like a 4. There's enough great pizza in the city of Montreal that I don't have to go back to a place that almost kicks its customers out. We were a group of 11 people on a Saturday night. Reservations were set for 9:30. Kitchen closes at 11. By 10, 10:15 everyone had already ordered. By the time we got our food it was close to 11 if not a little after 11. By the way the restaurant was empty. Literally not one other table taken. It was just us. The waiter literally started bringing us the bills while people were still eating their pizza!! Is this a joke? We haven't even finished our main course and he's already bringing us the bill?! Someone still has some crust on their plate which they were planning on eating but the plate was almost ripped out of their hands. And the crust is very good I might add. I'm so shocked that I had to take the time to write this review. I'm not a difficult customer. But this was absurd. Everyone wanted desert but No.. Its past 11, everyone wants to go home or out since it's Saturday night. So let's kick this table of 11 out.. Food was great. Service was the worst I've ever had. I will not be going back.

I ate here with a friend. We split a pepperoni pizza and Caesar salad. The cocktails were refreshing and the food was very yummy. There was also a piano player which was an added touch.
