Restaurant Ethan - Montréal

This is the first Chinese restaurant I tried when visiting Montreal Chinatown. Its preparation of Cantonese cuisine is not impressive. The pan-fried noodles was not pan fried at all and served more like lo mein. They also do not serve real authentic wonton in this shop. However their different version of the wonton dumplings do not taste bad. This place does have big portion and fast service. To some folks, that is very important.

Had the hot and sour soup very good, imperials rolls and sauce were bland! Then rice and shrimp with black bean sauce need to spice it up to make it seem hot. Place is okay clean, service was so-so. I do not mind eating alone but when a female enters alone restaurants seem to ignore these clients. I have found this in many restaurants in many cities and it annoys me to no end.

Went for a walk through Chinatown on an empty stomach. Realized this place was the most crowded so I thought I would give it a go. Turned out to be a good choice. Serving sizes were sufficient and prices were very reasonable. It is a very good option for cheap eats.

The service is deplorable (we were waited 20' without a menu and with a table not riddled. with two young children). The dishes are all with glutamate and if you go to the kitchens the level of insalubrity will make you run away. insalubrity that the press has noted several times (see other opinions). Run!

First thing you will get is a mandatory tip of 20% being added to your bill without asking(hand written on your bill) next you get is absolutely disgusting greasy food horrible rude service. They operate their illegal business is based on the fact that majority of people who eat there are tourists and are too polite to say anything other than just pay and walk off. If you are just visiting or you are just look for a quick place to eat please do yourself a favor and choose elsewhere they are so many other amazing Chinese restaurants in Montreal.
