The restaurant itself did not look well-maintained, but I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food tasted when I tried it at home. I enjoyed it so much that I returned the following day, April 20, 2016. The staff recommended the lamb, which was good but not as delicious as the chicken. If I had the means, I would consider buying out the chef and renovating the place. With some better management (the staff doesn't speak English, tables aren't cleared promptly, drinks are limited and placed on one table in the back, and there is no one at the counter when you enter), this restaurant could become quite profitable. Despite its shortcomings, it seems to attract a good amount of customers as it was busy both times I visited. Overall, I loved the food but wouldn't recommend it for a date night.
This restaurant is a must-try! I came in hungry and pressed for time during my short lunch break. The menu was extensive and the photos didn't do the dishes justice. After asking about a few options, I decided on the beef dish, despite being told it would take 30 minutes to prepare. The wait ended up being 35 minutes, but the large portion and perfectly cooked and seasoned beef made it worth it. The quality of the beef was impressive, with no gristle or fat. The fried plantains and rice were also delicious. This was my first time trying African cuisine and I was so impressed that I felt compelled to leave my first review on Urbanspoon. I will definitely be back for more.
The rice and chicken was really really good. The food is very flavorful. Not too spicey (mind you I am sti lankan : . If you like spicey ask for hot sauce. The hot sauce is very spicey. The rice must be eaten with the fried banana. The banana is so sweet it compliments the flavor of the rice and chicken. The waitress is unpleasant and not interactive. Btw they do not speak any english. I don't speak any French but manage to order.
This restaurant is a must-visit when in Montreal. The food is excellent, but it does take some time to prepare. It's advisable to call ahead if you're in a hurry and don't have 30 minutes to spare. Knowing some French can also be helpful. The fish, chicken, rice, and plantains are all delicious. If you enjoy some extra spiciness, don't forget to request some red chili sauce.
Amazing goat and mutton. hot hot sauce. the 20$ meal feeds two ppl so much. take fun and eat in the park and get them a beer in the beer shop near
