Our meal started off on a high note with some of my favorite items: a jar of pickles, crusty French bread, Dijon mustard, and a bottle of Malbec. From there, things only got better.
Based on our hotel concierge's suggestion, we decided to dine at L'Express.
I have been here a few times now and each time have been impressed with the service and the food. Their duck and steak are cooked perfectly and their unlimited fries are actually pretty good! Just a friendly tip that they don't serve alcohol so bring your own wine, and make sure to make reservations, especially on a weekend!
It was a busy night, the service was ok, the steaks were very good but small for the price, compared to other places in the area. The quality of the steak sauce and dessert was mediocre. What I didn't like is the waitress telling me either I eat an entree or eat enough appetizers to add to $20 a person. It totally changed my own image of the place and also the time limit on the table you reserve. The steak comes with fries, not negotiable for a salad. We are in 2016, we expect that an upscale place on St Denis would accomodate a crowd conscious of their food choices.
