We happened across Tampopo, and are so glad we did! Look for the big Buddha painted on the side of the building. I thought it might be a Buddhist center, so we headed over to check it out...but instead found delicious food to fill our hungry bellies! Relaxed, calm atmosphere. We opted to sit on the raised floor with table. I couldn't tell you what the names of our dishes were, but they were absolutely delicious! We were delighted to be able to take home leftovers so we could experience it again the next night. Highly recommend, and would certainly stop by again if in the Plateau (which we love)!
It is a cute small place, with its Asian charm and very good food! Three tables for four (sitting on the cushions on the floor a bit like in Japan), and several chairs around the "bar"- kitchen where you can watch all those delicious meals being prepared. Very good price-quality: I paid CAD18 for a starter and main, generous portions!!! Staff nice and kind. It is very close to the metro station Mont Royal (4min walk).
Tried this place one evening and kept coming back again for more. I loved everything about this place, starting from the setting, ambiance, nice service and most importantly exquisite food. A must try!
Tampopo used to be a good place but now is really disappointing. The pad thai is extremely blend and barely has any taste and same goes for the soup. Would not recommend.
