The staff was professional, friendly, and well-informed. The food was delicious and the cocktails my husband and I had were tasty. If you or someone you know has celiac disease or other food intolerances/allergies, I highly recommend this restaurant. You will enjoy it :)
I ordered a mushroom veloute and chicken marinated in maple syrup. Oh the chicken!! It was delicious! The service was also amazing. Even for people who have no allergies like me this is a great dining place!
My wife has a gluten allergy and we searched a lot of locations for gluten-free options and this was a place that came up. It was excellent. They are a small restaurant and due to some larger parties we had to sit at the bar, but it was no big deal. The server (also part owner) was so nice and friendly. He gave us some good recommendations. We ordered the petite "poutine" as an appetizer. Delicious fries with duck meat. Then a burger and the bison as our main meals. Only thing we would have done differently is not gotten fries with our main courses. Although they were very good it was fries overload. Still a wonderful little restaurant. There is metered street parking nearby.
Delicious food, great service, and no worries! It's hard to put what's wonderful about zero8 into a review. There are really two halves to this review. First, that there is a place where my daughter can actually go out to eat and order real food in a lovely restaurant is just wonderful. We actually drive two hours each way for this joy. Second, it's actually a good restaurant. The ambience is nice and the food is beautifully cooked. We have gone to other dedicated gluten-free restaurants in other cities, and generally, the ones who serve real sit-down restaurant food are often just coasting on their ability to provide a totally gluten-free product (or an allergy free product). Zero8 serves delicious food. My other daughter (adult, and a bit of a foodie) is in love with the food. They serve a wonderful sangria, excellent thick-cut fries (served with home-made ketchup - you have your choice of sweet or spicy), and really good lunch. While the crepes are good, we found we love the lamb burger and also the burger trois gibiers (a mix of 3 wild meats) - excellent!! Both went well with a pinot noir off the menu and we followed with a very nice coffee (excellent, but what else do you expect in Montreal?) with an perfect caramel verrine topped with pumpkin seeds for my husband and chocolate mousse for my daughter. one surprise - the mushroom velouté was exceptionally good. The coconut milk used to replace the dairy paired with the mushrooms and the pesto oil to make for a subtle Thai flavor. I'm definitely having this the next time I come back! It's a wonderful restaurant, and the allergen-free kitchen is a gift. We'll be back!
Accommodating and pleasant. Sat us outside even though whole restaurant was reserved for a party. Non allergenic but tasty. Coconut milk is used so ask before ordering. Lamb burger was delicious. Ginger soup was special and wine selection is very good and interesting. Crowd funded and worth supporting. An important initiative for people with food allergies. Even if no allergies, food is well prepared and interesting. Worth a visit.
