We had a very nice dinner at this place, which is a bonus in a Botta building. The caprese is worth the money as the mozzarella is excellent! We had pasta and both were very nice. Try the Halbfreddo for Dessert....When in Lugano again this restaurant is definitely on our short list.
We needed a utility meal on a Friday evening before our Saturday-morning departure from Lugano. We stumbled upon Tivoli, and we're so glad we did. The restaurant is a block in from the lake, so it's far from the madding crowd and, as a result,...also more reasonably priced. The outdoor seating was peaceful, even though there were two tables with small children and babies seated very nearby. The food--a pizza, the tagliolini with salmon and vodka, and the vegetarian lasagna--were all quite good. And the service was attentive without being too hovering. I don't understand the negative reviews some have left for this restaurant. They do not comport with our experience at all. We loved it.
I was not welcomed at the restaurant and staff treated me very casually which I did not appreciate. The menu is varied even if tge tuna tartare I took was small and terrible presentation. Bread was presented in an unhygienic paper bag and was below...Swiss bread standards. The main course was sea bass filet a la mediterranea which resembled to a soup with 3cm of bad quality oil from the local Italian cheap mass-type supermarket. This reminds me of my friend Marcus from Singapore who told me that he was given this type of food when he was in the army. The quality of the fish was also very poor and small in quantity. I reported my feelings of the food to the staff who told me i should have complained earlier as the dish has been prepared identically as mine over the past three years. I strongly doubt I will return back to this restaurant again. Absolutely not recommended. This bad experience cost me 73 Swiss Francs... Imagine how I felt when I left the restaurant.
Located just 3-4 blocks from Lake Lugano, in the Paradiso neighborhood,Tivoli restaurant is a great spot to mingle with locals. We came upon it by accident as we were strolling back to our hotel. We asked a couple eating outside how was the food. They...said delicious and offered us a taste!! We didn't take them up, but planned on coming back. We came back for dinner and were not disappointed. The service was friendly and the food delicious. There were only locals there , so it was an authentic meal. We would definitely go back!!
