I guess for every place that receives excellent initial reviews the most challenging part is to mantain the high standards.we drove down especially from candolim to sporting heroes which is 45 min(23 km) drive just to spend our day here based on the excellent time we had here last year.in their defence the place was very busy as they were catering to a local party but still the food, cocktails and the dessert were disappointing vis a vis the lofty standards of last year.Daiquiri was just like at any other place. The long iceland was not even cold..the pancakes smelly and the french fries too oily.Shewarama and fajitas were just about good, but not sporting heroes good..Had just so many expectations that felt truly let down.i hope they buck up.
I've tried a number of really terrific culinary establishments around Panjim, Candolim, Calangute, Baga, Madgaon, Benolim and just about all over the state & the Sporting Heroes Rocks kitchen & bar located at the Rock Water Resort compare to some of the best. The seafood pasta with calamari was a delight. The Sporting Heroes Rocks Special Steak was very innovative with an almost pesto like sauce with rosemary, almonds, peanuts and cashews ground into a textured sauce. The Bolognaise was not up to the mark for me but the other pastas we had during our meals there were yum! The Goan dishes we had (the Pork Vindaloo, Beef Chilli Fry) were simply outstanding! I highly recomend the Goan menu for anyone that loves Goan cuisine. Another must try are the Pizzas. The BBQ chicken pizza we ordered was really scrumptious. For breakfast, I would recommend trying the Spanish Omelette an the Directors special breakfast. Really hits the spot after a morning swim! A really delectable array of dishes and a lovely place to dine if you're visiting Morjim, Goa.
One fine evening we were strolling on the Morjim beach when we spotted Sporting Heroes Rocks shack and restaurant. We just sat there for a drink and were hooked to the place. The food was great, service (especially by Gopal) was awesome and the place had a vibe like no other shack in the vicinity. Upon inquiring, Gopal mentioned that they have rooms too and he showed us one AC room. We spoke to the owner, finalized the price and a decision was quickly made. We moved to Sporting Heroes Rocks for the remainder of our stay in Goa.And what a lovely decision it was! The room is huge and well appointed. The bathroom was pretty good too. There is a good balcony/sit out area outside (which is shared with the adjoining room). The beach is LITERALLY less than a minute walk from your room! We spent the evenings and nights just sitting or taking a stroll at the beach and loved every moment of our stay. The choice of music and playlist is commendable. David Bowie hits streaming when you're sipping on your drinks just adds to the experience! Food was amazing too. I think Sporting Heroes Rocks completes the experience of staying in Morjim. I would most definitely return to stay here for a longer term.
