When I lived in the area I used to eat here at least two to four times a week for quite a while, placing large orders each time. The high school college kids working here were always friendly and nice to chat with when taking your order. This was originally called the Jacket's Hive and served hamburgers and other related items, as well as ice cream. It has been locally owned and operated for many years in Morristown. When the original owner retired, the new owners, the sisters took over the business. The sisters added an entire pizza shop that they merged into the already good sized menu. So now they serve all types of tenderloins, hamburgers, hot subs, pizza's, ice cream and much more. Like 100+ items on the huge menu now, ha. The food overall was pretty good small town typical food, and tastes pretty good. The service was normally quick, and free drink refills are self serve. The inside has not been updated in a long time, and has many photos from at least the past 20 years of HS kids that have worked there in the past and present. This is a nice quick stop for many local residents especially after a local sporting event, if they are still open that late. They also offer delivery since they are a pizza place too. the Pizza's are okay, but not the best in town. The burgers are tasty though. Watch out for small add-on's as they like to charge 10 cents for each item; tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc can end up being an extra dollar on top of the burger price. Also they charge you extra for sauce for mushrooms, even if you do not order the sauce, i think its like 25 cents. I would always have to tell them no sauce, as they automatically give you sauce and add the extra fee for it, and I never use the sauce. I do not like be literally nickle and dime-ed to death for additional items that most places offer for free, and wish they would just include the toppings in their item's price instead of up-selling it. Why 2 stars then, well, after being a very loyal customer for a very long time, I have had issues with the owners and they are very serious ladies who do not like jokes or kidding around like I do, yikes! This has caused tensions a few times, and turned me off from going back here, at least when the owners are working. The staff liked to be fun, friendly, joke around, and have a good time, but not when the boss is there, OOO... Nooo! One of the issues I had with the owner was the fact that they never had any take out menu printed up. I like to hang menu's on my fridge and see what I want to order, then call in a order, many times delivery from this restaurant. They were always at my house bringing me food, haha. With their 100 items menu this was pretty difficult to remember everything they sell. So one day while eating inside I again asked for a paper menu to take home from the owner, boy o boy was that the wrong thing to ask for, I could almost see her temp rise as her eyes glared at me like the devil just walked in. She said they only had one left and it's used to make copies and they have none to give out. I said I am in here several times a week and always ask, and wanted one for my fridge, and mentioned she could go to any office supply store and get like 1000 copies made in 10 minutes for like $10. I also suggested adding the menu to their Facebook page, the owner angrily said she didn't know how to add it to Facebook. Ummm... hello, you have like ten 18 yr old's working for you, I'm sure they know how, is what I said, but in a nicer funny way, haha. My brother was with me at the time, and he even said she now looked like she wanted to kill me and that we better leave before we get kicked out, ha. Then she wickedly belted out saying she was too busy to go anywhere and have copies made, and for me to stop asking for a menu. Whoa... slow down there, I was thinking, geesh, it's just a menu. Actually since I liked the other workers so much and ate there so often, that my next trip to the office supply store, I was actually going to volunteer to get more made for them, just to be nice and to help their small business. As I do like to pay it forward and do many small things for businesses and people, that are kind, and many times anonymously, but hopefully make that person's day knowing kind people do exist even in tough times. Instead they lost probably their #1 customer. Not a very good way to operate own a small business. Don't take your frustrations out on customers or even employees, deal with them yourself in a professional manner. Everyone has good and bad days. For pizza in this town I recommend going to Patsy's Pizza, it's about the same price as here, and the pizza is much better, it's actually the best in town. The employees and owner's there are always friendly and helpful towards me and my family and appreciate my patronage.
The prices here are a bit steep for what you receive! There are many pizza places nearby offering great menus at half the price. The operating hours make it even more difficult to become a regular customer. I ordered a large specialty pizza with just three toppings and ended up paying over $25, while the same pizza can be found for $12-$15 at a larger chain in town.
The taco pizza here is absolutely fantastic! We happened to stop by while passing through town. Since Patsy's was closed until the evening, we were fortunate to find this pizza place. Although we live about an hour away, we will definitely be returning!
Fantastic pizza! I highly recommend trying the Yellow Jacket. It's a charming little spot in a small town. Typically, it takes about 30 to 40 minutes, so I suggest calling ahead to ensure your order is ready. The staff are quite good for this area as well.
