Despite that, it ranks among my top five burgers ever. I also highly recommend the side of potatoes. The staff was friendly, and the prices were quite reasonable.
I enjoyed three miniburgers packed with bold flavors. I'm not sure why only two are in the picture. There weren’t any fries, but the baked potatoes and sauce were really tasty. I also didn’t notice any Jujus at the place.
Best Burger offers high-quality food and has a friendly staff. I highly recommend this fantastic restaurant!
A bit pricey for a burger (Calamity Jane), Sprite bowl of clam chowder but the music isn’t annoying. Nathan, our server was prompt, polite accurate. He was the only server during lunch today was excellent. Cute little place, the bay view area was closed, my guess is it’s probably open for dinner or weekends. If you care for a view call ahead for more information. The potatoes are REALLY good portions substantial, Nathan brought me more potatoes than were shown. They just needed to cook more. Yes, $17 for a burger but these little places have been hit harder by the pandemic. I suggest if you are on a tight budget you eat here hit McDonald’s for the rest of the trip because it’s pretty darn good food, nice ambiance great service from Nathan (at least). I wouldn’t bring kids under 17. I don’t think they would appreciate it as much. The front patio has a couple tables but at lunch it’s in full sun. Since parts of me are Casper white we chose to eat inside. Customers seemed to socially distance without being encouraged which is nice. Nathan gave a little dog on the patio some water. It’s just a nice place over all.
The night crept in quickly as the fog set in. Driving down the coast on the 1 had brought its own series of challenges without cell service. While we listened to my idiot friend 's awful pre downloaded music for the 11th time, I began to contemplate my own weariness and my ever thinning patience. With another 30 minutes to Morro Bay, it would hopefully be the saving grace of the evening. We passed San Simeon, heading for Cayucos. As the sun disappeared below the horizon, the fog rolled in, as though the spirits of ten thousand tormented souls were dancing around in the lingering light along the coast. Out from the hazy fog appeared a lone cottage. A west coast witch, perhaps? I wasn 't going to stick around long enough to find out...not out of fear, but out of hunger. As cellular service slowly returned, Google Maps began to load the eating spots in Morro Bay. My wife 's patience grew thin as I eyeballed House of Juju. This is my kind of place burgers and clam chowder but would she like it? I knew it was my choice, but I desperately searched for a backup plan in case it didn 't land. At length it was made clear to me that time had run out and I needed to tell them where we were eating. Worried at the thought of rejection, I announced this gourmet burger joint with a seemingly delicious clam chowder bread bowl. Is this going to be expensive enough for my pretentious friend and spoiled wife? I hope so, for my own pockets were not as deep since our trip to Napa Valley. Delighted, I listened to her excitement as she approved whole heartedly. I forgot that she loves burgers and bread bowls. The night set in fully by the time we arrived. We have walked by House of Juju many times before, blissfully unaware of its food and atmosphere. We entered, ever fearful of a new Covid protocol. It is California after all. Would we have to strip down to our skivvies and be sprayed with decontaminant? Would we have to show a passport notarized by Newsom himself? By good fortune, we were greeted with a smile. You can always tell when someone is smiling if they aren 't wearing a fear mask. The windows are large, making it seem as though you are almost on a patio. The fog was a source of joy for some reason, perhaps it made us feel cozy, or maybe it just felt like an authentic, chilly, coastal evening. Either way, our server was pleasant, and the food did not disappoint. As my idiot friend ate upwards of half of my clam chowder and garlic toast, my only regret is not throwing him out of the car at Big Sur when I had the chance. Would return.
