We decided to visit this restaurant after returning from the Fronalpstock mountain as it seemed authentic Swiss from the outside as well as from the interior. The waiter friendlily approached us and provided us with a reduced selection menu card which we didn’t mind as it had traditional Swiss dishes on it and also tomato spaghetti which is basically the only food our fussy toddler eats. For drinks we ordered a Coke Zero and black tea with lemon. My husband is type 1 diabetic and orders always a Diet Coke so he doesn’t need to give extra insulin, however his blood sugar measuring sensor quickly signaled the mistake of the waiter as he served normal sugary coke. My tea arrived without lemon but that seemed less of an issue at the moment. For starter I ordered the soup of the day, bouillon, which was the saltiest thing I’ve ever tasted. Although I felt really cold from the snowy mountain and longed for a nice warm soup, I couldn’t finish it because the salt was scratching my throat. The spaghetti of my son, although it tasted ok, looked very unappealing. The sauce was watery and half of the pasta looked old and dry. In the meanwhile the waiter informed us that something was wrong with the pasta that we adults ordered (some traditional Swiss food) and that we could choose from spaghetti or macaroni. He recommended the latter as it resembles the Swiss pasta the most. After some time we were served our pasta dishes and ever since I can’t think of pasta. Mine looked like canned dog food. When I make pasta at home I take better care of how the presentation looks like. It wasn’t even macaroni, but that was the last thing on my mind. It looked unappealing and tasted just salty. My husband got pasta with melted cheese on top. We both left more than half on the plate, even though we both are highly against food waste. When we asked for the bill we were told that it was impossible to pay with card even though there were stickers on the door indicating otherwise. Apparently the facility opened two days before and the credit card machine hadn’t arrived.... The waiter asked us to walk to some station to take money out of the ATM but as it was our last day in Switzerland we preferred not to end up with leftover Swiss currency. After all an employee from a close-by hotel offered us to pay at their reception and assured the restaurant that they’d arrange something. After walking an extra 10 minutes and waiting in a queue at the hotel reception we could pay those 80 CHF that gave us a horrible experience and empty stomachs. If I was raised differently I would’ve walked away without paying.
