Hondumex - Morton

Delicious food... my new favorite place to eat authentic Mexican food.

The carne asada tacos were bursting with flavor. While many places simply add a few spices to their meat during cooking, it's clear that Hondumex marinated theirs for hours before grilling. My taste buds were truly delighted by the variety of flavors. It was so delicious that I ended up buying the uncooked version from their grocery section and made it for dinner at home, and it was just as fantastic. Mmmmhhhhh! The rice and beans were decent but nothing special. Another member of our party had the chicken fajitas, which they thoroughly enjoyed. If you're in Morton, definitely check this place out!

This restaurant is excellent, offering delicious menudo, sopes, and mole. It’s attached to an outstanding Latino grocery store, butcher, and bakery where you can find all kinds of authentic Latino products. If you're in the Morton area, this is a must-visit spot!

I have a deep love for authentic Mexican cuisine, having lived in Mexico and savored numerous fresh, traditional dishes. I must say, Hondumex has an excellent staff and the food is genuinely authentic. The carnitas tacos are bursting with the perfect flavor, while the tacos al pastor are delightful and sweet. The salsa is well-balanced, not overly heavy on the cilantro. It's a fantastic place to dine, and I eat there regularly; I've never experienced poor service, whether dining in or getting takeout. It truly reminds me of my cherished time in Mexico. I also appreciate the ability to purchase fresh produce items and Oaxacan cheese, just like I would in Mexico. Additionally, they offer frozen treats and bakery items that are just like the real thing!

We recently dined at this restaurant and noticed that nearly every table and booth was dirty, with only two exceptions. No one seemed to be cleaning up, and the service was quite poor. We requested a to-go container for my grandson's food, but the only options available were small containers that could barely hold a piece of cake. Additionally, the staff member who rang us up overcharged us and was quite rude. The tables that were dirty when we arrived were still that way by the time we left. I used to enjoy dining here, but I'm not certain I will return again.
