This cafe is in a great spot and serves coffee, cake and light meals. Have been a few times. Can be a bit hit and miss but the view makes up for all that.
Stopped in to tour the old jail, and found this delightful cafe. Even though it was a bit cold we decided to sit outside and enjoy the view. I had the gnocchi for lunch which was delicious, and my partner had the shepherds pie. Delicious coffee as well. The service was great, with friendly staff, who were able to make more recommendations for us. Worth a visit.
After spending the night doing the overnight investigation my partner and I stayed and had breakfast here. It was amazing. The coffee was great and the food was just as great. I got the crumpets with walnuts and figs. Delicious. And it was reasonably priced too!
We had booked a table for seven for my mum's 72nd birthday, which I mentioned when I booked, and even when I arrived and told them again it was my mum's birthday, the waitress still said nothing. I ordered a coffee, which came out only warm, as if it had been sitting on the counter for a while. I mentioned it to the waitress, that unfortunately my coffee wasn't hot, and she turned to me and said 'what would you like me to do about it?'. Had I not of been there for my mum's birthday, I DEFINITELY would of left right then, however we stayed for lunch.I can not recommend any of the food here, the winter warmer bowl was awful, and the tofu that I had as an accompaniment, was so dry! The Bustra Shroom was mushrooms with a piece of toast with a scrap of feta on it! I am just so sorry we came here, there are heaps of better places in Castlemaine to go, with much better service!
