Feedback gevenI have eaten here three times and each time it has been disappointing. I am sure that if one wanted casual dining in Mt Barker there would be much better places to chose.
Its taken me a while to write this review and I hope that since my last visit, things have improved. I had visited the restaurant regularly in the past and the food and service was good therefore I had no hesitation in inviting two work colleagues to a Sunday lunch. I booked a week in advance. We arrived to find a large function going on in the next room. We were shoved into a corner table covered in white paper (and nothing else). On previous visits the table had been set with a cloth and cutlery in fine dining style and had looked attractive. I questioned this and I was asked if I had a booking. I replied that I had booked a week in advance. Apparently there was no record of this. The food arrived, one plate at a time with each person left waiting for a long period for their food. Mine was dumped on the table without cutlery. I had to get up to fetch cutlery. To be quite frank, the food was awful. This was such an obvious difference from my previous visits that I queried it and was told that the chef on duty was in training plus they had a function to deal with. I was offered free desserts which I refused, as I don't believe in negotiating freebies to compensate for sub standard service and bad food. I have not returned to this venue as I feel that I do not wish to return to an establishment which resulted in a negative experience in the presence of my colleagues, particularly when I had spoken highly of this restaurant. I hope that they are back on track with their previous standards but I will not be taking the trouble to find out.
We held our daughters wedding in the rose garden at the Mt Barker-Hahndorf Golf Club last weekend and it was a beautiful setting. Our reception was held in the club rooms afterwards and they did a magnificent job. Thanks to the staff for a great night, especially Tim the chef, the food was fabulous, and Steph and her band of helpers. We could not fault the night! Superb
We have eaten here a few times over the years. The food is good without being great. It's always been reasonably quiet with not a lot of people there. Service is pretty prompt and they have a decent wine list. The chairs need to be updated as they are from the 70's and not particularly comfortable. Bathrooms need upgrading.
One of the most spectacular meals we have had as a late anniversary dinnerThe restaurant is beautiful with different color rooms.
