El Famous Burrito - Mount Prospect

My favorite dish is the steak tacos topped with onion and cilantro, served with rice and beans. The churros are also delicious!

I really adore this restaurant. The food is genuinely authentic, and the staff serves generous portions. It can get quite busy at this location, but if you order ahead, you can avoid the rush. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the food is; it has become a staple in the area. My kids keep asking to return for more!

Overall, the service is typically fast, but during my recent visit, there was a slight delay in receiving my food. I don’t mind waiting, as it’s usually fresh and served hot. I ordered steak tacos, fries, and a drink. Their tacos never let me down; while the portion of steak was on the smaller side, it was bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious. The fries were served piping hot and crispy. The meal was so satisfying that I left completely full. All in all, dining here is always a pleasure. You can always rely on great Mexican food at excellent prices.

I also appreciate that you can take a whole bottle of salsa with you to enjoy on your burrito with every bite. Being a huge salsa fan, that's exactly what I do. Both the red and green salsas have always been fresh, and they keep them in the fridge during the day instead of on the tables. So, if it's your first time there, you might not even notice them right away. The service has consistently been outstanding. Compared to a few other Mexican restaurants I've visited, the staff speaks good English and understands everything perfectly, so I've never run into any issues. One of the best parts is how fast they prepare your order. Usually, by the time I pay, grab a salsa from the fridge, and pick up some napkins and a plastic fork, my order is ready—literally in under two minutes! Occasionally, during busy periods, you may wait around 5-6 minutes if there's someone ahead of you picking up a large order, but it's still impressively quick! And just to clarify, this speed doesn’t mean the food is undercooked; it shows that the cooks are well-prepared. Both the Wheeling and Mount Prospect locations are equally convenient for me since they’re about the same distance from my house, and I alternate between them. I genuinely can't say I prefer one over the other, as they are both fantastic. However, Wheeling recently updated its interior, giving it a fresh new look. I hope they'll do the same for the Mount Prospect location next because it could use a little refresh!

The restaurant offers authentic Mexican cuisine with quick service. I wasn't a fan of the cheddar cheese in the quesadilla, but the verde sauce was fantastic, and the rice was delicious. I highly recommend trying the churros! There was also an irate older gentleman yelling at the cashier because he had ordered the wrong item, but she managed the situation exceptionally well, and he left feeling satisfied.
