Ousler's Sandwiches - Mountain Brook

Ousler's is a true Birmingham gem! I’ve known that it has been around for ages, but I discovered during my visit that it has been serving the community since 1915! First off, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I’ve enjoyed their finger sandwiches at various events, but I didn’t realize they offer boxed lunches for pickup throughout the week. The boxed lunch is an excellent, budget-friendly choice, including one sandwich, golden flake chips, deviled eggs, a brownie, and a drink—all for just $5. I went with the chicken salad sandwich, which I’ve had before at parties, but as usual, it came with a very thin layer of chicken salad. While this works well for finger sandwiches at events, I prefer a more substantial sandwich for lunch. Nonetheless, the other items complemented the meal nicely and made for a really enjoyable lunch! I will definitely be ordering their sandwiches for future parties and will return for another boxed lunch soon!

This is the perfect plact for game day sandwiches. Bridal teas. Luncheons. Church Functions. Any time you need to feed a group of people an order from Ousler's is sure to be a hit. We love to stop by on Saturdays and grab a few to pack for school lunches or take as a travel picnic.

It's just a sandwich. Having grown up in the South my whole life, I don't quite understand the idea of the "taste of the old South." Maybe it's a flavor from an era before segregation, when diverse influences began to emerge? I've never really discovered it myself. Wealthy patrons seem to adore this place, but every average person who eats there seems to realize, for the first time, that it's just a sandwich. I've often thought that nostalgia plays a role, or perhaps it's a case of affluent individuals who never learned to cook, relying on their childhood memories. I respect that it’s a family-owned business and it has a certain charm, but how can one woman criticize someone saying it’s “fit for a 4-year-old” when I had a cosmic brownie in my lunchbox?

Delicious sandwiches! My favorite is the chicken salad sandwich—perfect for catering and social gatherings!

Ordered ahead of time. Order was perfect. Great sandwiches! Highly recommended
