Open later than most, with a wide selection, and portions as big as your grandmother used to serve you (eat more, you’re too skinny! . Some of the classics here are the Beef Chow Fun, the Baked dishes, and the Rice dishes. The Baked dishes come in a convenient tin bowl that doubles as a takeout tray since the portions are so big you probably won’t finish. The Rice dishes, my favorite being the shrimp and egg over rice, are made with a nice slurry that mixes so well with the rice. It’s no wonder you’ll find old-timey HKers dining here, late at night discussing business or family, sipping on some lemon tea. HK Bistro delivers the goods.
I really like it. Every time I go there I am happy because the food is similar to what I have in my hometown. I am a Cantonese.
Good food but really rude waitstaff. If the food wasn't so good I'd never come back. Don't come here expecting a friendly face. Instead expect the grumpiest service possible.
Tried the Hainan Chicken, which just seemed like plain unseasoned boiled chicken. When done properly, there is a layer of gel between the skin and meat. None here. Also my chicken wing had ~8 impressively long pin feathers sticking it out of it. At first, I just pulled them out but some were stubbornly hard to get out and I just gave up and stopped eating. Ginger dip okay. Rice oily but needed a little salt.
The food was nothing like the real Hong Kong cuisine. I can't find a better word but disgusting to describe it. Won't come back and don't recommend it.
