Feedback gevenLast June I visited this place with a few friends. We were a bit sceptical at first, because the prices are on a higher level and you have to cook the meat on your own. But we experienced a pleasant surprise since everyone was amazingly friendly and the barbecue was a great and fun group experience. The meat was perfectly fine, all in all we had a really nice evening. I can definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Munich.
Hi, I dine at G&G regularly because the steaks are great, the servers are friendly and accommodating of guest requests, and lets face it, nothing beats the smell of fresh meat grilling. I do ask for some of the sides to be without salt - but I find most Munich restaurants use way too much salt for my taste. I recommend the rib eye or filet, with a side of sautéed spinach no salt, and a potato. If you want a cooler dish, try the steak [tartare] and hummus appetizer - delicious. The staff is wonderful and you should try it.
I have been to the location in the west end multiple times and I have never had a bad experience. We have talked the resturant up so much when our friends from Stuttgart came they said we want to go to Grill & Grace. Since the West End location is not open on sundays we made a reservation here. When we walked in we were not greeted immedately. When someone did come they gave us a choice of two tables all the way in the back of the resturant. About 5 minutes later a family came to set in the other table next to us. Not sure if it was because they had two children or not, but the waitress helped them first. Which I thought was rude. Ok maybe I can get over it. We then place our order. Of course the other table got their appetizers and their steaks first. When we got up to the grill there were already a bunch a people around. Not an issue. about 3 minutes later we were given instructions on how to cook the steak then walked away. In all the times I went to the West End location, they always stayed with us to ensure perfection. In the end, one steak was not as done to perfection as it could have been. Then we get back to the table and no sides, we had to wait about 5 minutes or so to received the side and sauces. Meanwhile the steaks are getting cold. Then we waited to order drinks and more sauce . Finally the drinks came but not the sauce. In the end we never got the sauce because they were making more, (if we had waited the steak raeally would have been cold). As we were leaving we saw a sign for more help. to be honest for the prices, the service should be top notch and it wasnt. It is a sheme because this is the only impression our friends have.
We went here as a group of 19 friends for a pre Xmas meal. The concept is that you choose which steak you want to have selected from a list ranging from sirloin to filet to dry aged rib eye of T-Bone and then you take it to the central grill where you are instructed on how long to cook it for by a member of staff. In theory this is a nice idea and adds a twist to a meal out. In practice when everyone wants their steak cooked differently it means that you can be stood waiting for others to cook theirs a while before you start cooking your own. i.e. If someone needs 16mins for their steak and you need only 5mins you wait 11mins to start (so you can all eat at the same time). The quality of the steaks was very good. They come unseasoned so you need to season them yourselves after cooking to suit your taste. That's where the positives end however. The wine list is not great, starting at around 28-29€ with a reasonable bottle at 45€.The service was very unprofessional. Possibly the first time ever I have refused to leave a tip. There was not enough staff to cover how busy it was. I counted 4-5 and there was another group larger than ours plus quite a few other smaller tables. We often had to wait to get the waitresses attention (15mins to order a whiskey) and at the end of the evening they seemed more interested in setting the tables up for the next day than making sure their customers were taken care of.As mentioned we were a large group so had mixed starters for all as part of the menu option offered. The issue was the starters were split onto plates to serve 4 people but they set the tables up as 2x10 people. That meant that 1 table had 3 plates of starters and the other 2 plates (meaning not enough on one table). The waiters response when we asked for more for our table? Tough luck effectively and you can always get up and go and get more from the other table!!! Really? Their lack of forethought on how to serve the food for a table setup they prepared meant we had to move during our meal?? The correct response and level of customer service would have been to bring small portion more for our table.Second issue, the steaks vary in price greatly from 17€ to 38€ and when we ordered we asked what was included in our menu price and what was extra (everyone on the table asked this question just to be sure) and was told that we could choose what we wanted from the list. Great, of course most people went for finer cuts (dry aged). After ordering we found out there was a surcharge for the better cuts. Of course this would have been fine but we specifically asked and the way they handled their mistake afterwards was poor. Final issue was when paying the bill. We were paying separately for our meals so the waitress had to split the bill accordingly. At the end there was a couple of items not paid for including one of the menus. Everyone had paid for their menus but they were adamant someone hadn't paid. It was plainly our fault. It took probably 15-20 mins to sort out (with our group stood around waiting to leave) until we suggested they look back at each individual payment to see where the mistake was (which should have been the first thing they did away from our table) The result? The waitress made a mistake on one couples bill and hadn't charged them correctly. A half hearted apology was all we got. When one of group gave their feedback about the service the waitress was sarcastic to her.The high prices & do it yourself concept are not supported by service levels. We paid 100€ each (without tip) for our meal and it really wasn't worth it. Go to another high end steak restaurant, pay the same and get a far nicer evening out.No one in our group would recommend this place or be going back.
