Feedback gevenThe restaurant host was very friendly and has tipps given to the selection of the food and also later on drinks. had the salat and a burger. music was great and in the regular a great atmosphere there are about 10 dishes, of which only one is not vegan / vegetarian.
The südstadt is my favourite place to have nice vegan food for a reasonable price in my hometown (which has very little choice for vegans in comparison to other cities in the world . the fact, that they play punkrock and the charming atmosphere are just the topping. unfortunately you can't sit outside on a sunny evening and I'd wish they would offer breakfast and lunch, too : But the fries are the best in town and I never can make up my mind what to eat, even tough the menu is quite small- but everything is so delicious! and since the very rude waitress isn't there any more, I enjoy coming there even more :
Living in munich i Know some of the ambitious complete vegan restaurants here, and appreciate every single one of them. The Südstadt however offers uncomplicated vegan dishes (i only talk about vegan dishes here), that i personally like very much. The fries are deliciously crispy, the Currywurst has a tasty homemade sauce and the cheesecake is legendary. According to many vegans i know, the best cheesecake ever. Besides classical Bar-Food like Burger Schnitzel there are changing offers like vegan soups or curry. Due to the district of munich (near antifa-base cafe marat and Wagenplatz Olga) there are many guests from an alternative, punk and politicaly left-orientated scene. We prefer big, tasty, vegan offers that are not too expensive. Updated from previous review on Tuesday July 21, 2015
Recommended by a friend since the chef previously worked at the famous (but now closed) Kafe Kopfeck. They always had incredible food and vegan options to dream of. The Südstadt keeps this alternative punk rock atmosphere but the creativity lacks a lot. Had the saitan roast meat in red wine with french fries for 11,80 Euro. Just to find out it had the cheapest and smallest french fries you 'll find in any supermarket and one slice of the very specific saitan that is available in various vegetarian shops. On top there were too many over cooked onion pieces. And I really mean TOO MANY it was all covered in it. It came to my attention that most of the visitors are here for a beer rather than for the food. So the whole concept of the Südstadt is made mainly for party people. In that perspective it 's pretty okay that they have so many vegan options, but on the other hand the prices are hardly to justify if a random vegan person can identify all the items used from a few visits in vegetarian stores. Also the food was not nice arranged but pretty plain. Updated from previous review on Tuesday July 16, 2013
