Irving Big Stop -  Mulgrave Et Derry,

This was a breakfast stop for me as I needed food and the washroom badly having left in rush to beat the weather. The stop is well marked, easy to see and you have plenty of time to slow down and pull over to eat...from either direct on the highway. There are lots of places that you don't know about them until you are on of them or have passed already. There are lots of pumps for gas, parking for RV's and trucks and even a rest and shower station for professional truckers on their travels. For me , the washroom for the general public was clean, being cleaned and monitored so no fears there. The food, sit down sitting, lots of staff, I was seated quickly and efficiently. The menu is your basic Nova Scotia fare with all the fish and sea products, burgers, fries and I think even glutton free options. The breakfast was done well, cooked properly and they know how to cook good scrambled eggs (you'd be surprised how many places can't cook an egg of any kind). Prices were okay , you have to factor in there is no other place to eat and they could charge you a lot more.

The food was not worth it! Asked the greeter an uncomplicated question and they just told us to ask questions to the waitress. The fish and chips had chicken coating on them. Not cool..

Irving Big Stops have always been a great place to eat. Since Covid began we had not eaten inside a restaurant till the end of September . A Big Stop was our first choice. They are dedicated to making and keeping us safe. They...recorded info on us. They have added higher dividers between booths. We watched them clean and sanitize each booth as guests left. They have large carts containing all of the needed cleaning tools. They wear masks. They serve delicious food. They are welcoming. We will return.

Food was very good, but too expensive. service was great, masks to be worn but not enforced. friendly staff

We stopped for supper around o'clock on Saturday evening on our way home from Halifax to Cape Breton.We anticipated a good hot meal but were we disappointed.I ordered corn chowder,which I love,but it was lukewarm so had to call the waitress over to take...it back and nuke it.We also ordered hot sandwiches which arrived at the table with my chowder.My chowder was now hot but both our meals were cold.Again we had to complain to the waitress who was very understanding.She said she would bring us hot gravy which would help.Nope,it was cold too!!!!At that time,we were so hungry we ate the cold meal because we wanted to get home.The manager took off our two glasses of fountain pop and a small glass of tomato juice and we paid a bill of over plus a tip for our server,who did her best.It was,by far, the worst meal we have ever had.We ate frequently at the other Big Stop and it was always good.!This was our third time there to eat but,believe me,it will be our last.Each time,we had to return food to be nuked,which I disagree having to do that.You have lost our business but we are only two customers. You will never get a good review from us.The new management should take a good look at the meals coming from their kitchen.
