Chennai Vilas - Muscat

I've been here a couple of times for the only reason that it's in the vicinity of my college. The ambience and space to accommodate people are pretty good. 3/5 for both. The food is a downside. For a person who loves and thrives in spicy foods, like me, the side dishes served here are a big no-no. The Naan varieties are pretty good though. The shawarma, though good in taste and quite filling, unwrap themselves and make a mess. Recommend dishes include Naan varieties and their shawarma. An option if the other hotels in the area are brimming with customers. Not a first choice.

Good place where you will get Veg Non-veg food with reasonable price. Awesome service. Well maintained . Taste can be better otherwise satisfied !!!

The place is good to have a casual meal with your friends but doesn't always live upto your expectations. Located near VIT Chennai, it is not worth the tag of being the costliest option in the neighbourhood. Pros- North Indian esp. Non Veg Cons- Slow Service

The food isn't that great as their prices. The person who serves is very arrogant and doesn't talk to you politely. A 2 Litre Coca Cola bottle will cost you Rs 99, whereas the MRP is Rs 70 Only, when asked why is it so, the arrogant waiter replies, you are enjoying the AC and the ambience who will pay for this, would you believe the waiter said these words. I had to fight hard to cancel the Coke Bottle Order, as the waiter said once it is billed we cannot return back. I had a bad experience here. The food delivery was also delayed. There are not many NON VEG Restaurants in our vicinity, if you are hungry to have food outside, go to Chennai Vilas.

Chennai vilas is located on the vandalur kelambakkam road near VIT campus. I usually pass through this place when I commute to work. Yesterday I had lots of time in my hand and I tought I should try this place out. As I entered the praking area mine was the only vehicle to be parked there. Then I had to walk quiet a number of paces before I can see the name board of chennai vilas. Though the name was conspicuous the entrance to the restaurant was a difficult one to find as there was no directions or sign put up. And as there was not a single soul in the vicinity I just rode on my luck and took the stairs which luckily led into the restaurant. There was a very thin crowd who were mostly made up of the employees of the IT park. I think this place couples as a canteen for the IT park. True to the nature of canteen they had only one dish available, pongal and vada. They served a generous quantity of pongal along with sambar, coconut chutney and tomato chutney. The masala vada was tiny but no issues considering the price of it all, Rs30 only. Pongal was very good to taste. Sambar was awesome while chutneys were also adequately tasty. Masala vada was average though. But for just Rs30 it was a terrific breakfast. The dining hall is huge with lots of tables with good lighting. Overall ambiance was very good though it reminds you of a office canteen which it is. The reviews here say good things about their lunch menu too. Will try it out soon.
