The food and service was great big menu of items to choose from I mean plenty of choices. The sausage gravy was not the usual gravy I am accustom to. It has a distinct flavor I can’t identify the sausage used but I enjoyed it it was very good. The waffle are great and my favorite l Will definitely return again
The pecan waffle satisfied my craving for a waffle. It wasn't sweet like I anticipated but it was good. The bacon wasn't crispy but it tasted decent. (I actually haven't found a restaurant yet that serves/cooks crispy bacon here) The eggs were good. Nothing too extravagant to report there. The sausage.... Definitely needed some tanning. A little light colored for our liking. My daughter LOVED her chocolate chip pancakes and barely used the syrup. He said the pancakes were a little tough but the sausage gravy on his chicken fried steak was pretty good. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. I've heard about the wait times, we arrived and it was packed but we only had a 15 min. wait. All in all we'd probably visit again and try something else. Overall it's a pretty nice breakfast spot!
Very good service, but the food we had was just OK.I had the banana split waffle which was out-of-this-world amazing. My daughter had the coconut banana french toast waffle. I would characterize it as a 7 10 split of waffles. Sure, you get the 8 pins but it is impossible to bring home the Spare. It had a good flavor but the texture of the cinnamon sugar made the waffle crunchy . It would have been far better to just increase the overall cinnamon and use powdered sugar. My wife got the biscuits gravy and a side of grits, and this is where things went sideways. My wife stated that the biscuits and gravy were just meh and the grits were clumpy.Johnny D 's website and menu make a big deal about their chef, but such a miss on southern staples like grits and biscuits gravy was sort of a bummer. That said, the menu is full of other interesting choices and we 'll definitely give them another try. The banana split waffle was amazing enough to warrant another visit on its merits alone!
We came around 9AM on a Saturday. The place was bustling but not too crowded. There were a few parties in front of us, but we didn't have to wait long. We stood in line to get seated and within few minutes we weee greeted and seated. Our server came soon after and was attentive. She took our drink orders followed by our breakfast order. Our food came daily fast as well. I enjoyed my fried chicken biscuit with gravy. Everyone in my family enjoyed theirs as well. A well run place with good tasting food.
The cooks did an OUTSTANDING JOB with the food! The waitresses were very nice and made my group and I feel welcomed. I RECOMMEND everybody to eat at Johnny D's in South Carolina! 100/10!!!
