Mike's Barbeque House - Nacogdoches

This is my first visit to Nacogdoches, and I wanted to try this restaurant. Upon entering, I noticed how clean and sanitary the place was. The customer service was very friendly. I ordered a brisket sandwich, and I really enjoyed the flavor. I give it 5 stars to go!

If you're craving smoked meat on a Sunday, Mike's is the place to be. However, you should definitely visit any day of the week because the food is fantastic. The brisket was tender and flavorful with a great bark. Three of us enjoyed a meal for under $30, which is a bargain compared to what I've spent at more well-known places in Kansas City. The barbecue was truly excellent, with everything cooked to perfection. The staff was quick and knowledgeable. The potato salad was outstanding, especially considering I'm quite picky about it. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I would have liked a larger portion of brisket rather than just small pieces. Nonetheless, the flavors were absolutely delicious!

The grilled ribs were absolutely terrible. What kind of sauce they use is terrible. I'm not from Texas, but I thought they were supposed to be a good grill here. If this place is the standard, I will never eat barbecue again in Texas.

This was possibly the worst BBQ experience I've ever had. The food was disappointing on every level. We ordered a chicken plate with potato salad and baked beans, as well as a rib plate with the same sides. First off, the meat came from a plastic bag that had been heated in a warmer. The meat was gray and very cold. The chicken was incredibly bland and needed seasoning, at the very least some salt. The ribs were unappetizing, and the sauce tasted like a cheap imitation of BBQ sauce. The potato salad, which should be called a heavily loaded potato dish, was a strange grayish-brown color and quite unappealing. The baked beans were decent, but the highlight of the meal was the two slices of white bread. We ordered two plates but were given just two slices of plain white bread. I had to ask for two more slices. Overall, this was my worst BBQ experience.
