A lovely relaxing afternoon. We will be back for a coffee and a cake. The cakes looked delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I typically visit early on Sundays, and I find the food to be quite good; I’ve never encountered issues with tough or overcooked vegetables as mentioned in other reviews. The service and food variety can be inconsistent; sometimes it’s excellent, and other times it falls short. The chefs often aren't ready by 11:30 AM, and on our last visit, my husband ordered a large carvery to get extra meat, but he only received one slice instead of the usual two, so we had to politely ask for more. The gravy is thick and flavorful, and the dauphinoise potatoes are fantastic—when they have them available. I appreciate not having to cook and being able to enjoy a quick meal, so overall, I’m quite satisfied.
The carvery was excellent, featuring a wonderfully moist turkey roast that was absolutely delicious. The gravy was plentiful, which we really enjoyed. We appreciated having a gluten-free menu available, but it would have been helpful to know if the gravy and cauliflower cheese were gluten-free as well. Overall, the service was good, and we felt it was great value for the meal.
This is a wonderfully managed family-friendly pub. The staff are consistently welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. The only drawback is that the carvery occasionally lacks a variety of fresh vegetables and side dishes. However, it's a fantastic restaurant, boasting both indoor and outdoor play areas for kids of all ages, which my family and I always enjoy visiting.
