Monticello Napa Valley

This is a beautiful and elegant little winery that's worth a visit if you are in Napa. We had never visited Monticello before but enjoyed the grounds and the lovely wine tasting which we thought was quite affordable.It felt like a personalized experience and the Monticello staff was very charming, friendly and knowledgable about the wines and the history of the place. I also liked that we didn't need an appointment here, which you do at a lot of other wineries in the area.I especially enjoyed the chardonnay and my husband loved the pinot noir!

Place is very beautiful! But service absolutely sucks : we didn’t have an appointment for testing, so we just decided to buy a bottle of wine and enjoy the atmosphere. How much I was surprised when they brought us glasses for water. And when I said that I would want to drink not-the-most-cheapest-wine from proper glasses, they gave me such a look like I asked them for a million dollars. In the end I insisted on proper glasses, but overall experience was bad. They have never ever came to ask if we want something else. We were in the mood of buying a lot of wine for home and for friends, but preferred to spend money at different wine yard with much more attentive staff.

This was our first time in the Napa Valley. The winery grounds were very nice, and created a calming environment. Our winery server was very friendly and helpful with our selections for tasting. She also gave us the history of the winery and some Napa facts!We washed it with 2 bottles, the Proprietary Red Blend and the Pinot Noir! Would definitely return here!

Highly recommend visiting Monticello! John Rosa was fantastic—explained the various wines in an easy to understand, non-pedantic way! He was friendly, funny, and welcoming. The estate is gorgeous, with beautiful landscaping and roses and was a lovely place to spend the afternoon! And the wines—especially their Chardonnay—exquisite; we shipped several bottles home!

I had one of the best wine tastings I've ever experienced! The staff was incredibly friendly and very patient with all our questions. They even allowed us to visit their library and taste wine straight from the barrel. I highly recommend this place and am thinking about becoming a wine club member. Their passion for what they do is evident, and they genuinely enjoy sharing their knowledge with others.
