The Grill At Silverado - Napa

I had a brief dinner and a lengthy lunch at this restaurant. The service was excellent and very attentive. During dinner, I sat at the bar, and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was decent, but I felt it didn't quite match the price. The same can be said for lunch. The vegan burger I ordered was not satisfying; it was a bit chewy and didn’t have much flavor. Overall, the food here is average, particularly the vegetarian dishes I tried. However, the restaurant is situated in a beautiful location, which makes it a nice spot for lunch.

This place is always buzzing, especially during golf events or other occasions. I ordered a burger from the busy bar, but it turned out to be more like a burger tartare. It seemed to have spent barely three seconds on the grill as it transitioned from the fridge to the bun. The only explanation I could think of was that the person putting the burger together had red color blindness. That said, the first few bites were delicious before we realized how rare it was. Fortunately, no one ended up feeling sick afterward, so I have to commend the kitchen on their meat handling, sourcing, and sanitation practices. However, I have an issue with either the bartender who took the order or the visually impaired kitchen staff who didn’t use a thermometer to ensure the burger was cooked to medium. Not wanting to delay our plans any further or deal with the bar crowd, we decided to counteract any potential bacteria or parasites the old-fashioned way—with plenty of alcohol!

I ordered the Spring Cobb salad along with a side of Mac and cheese, and everything was delicious. The salad had a unique twist on the classic Cobb, boasting a fantastic flavor and texture combination. The Mac and cheese was among the best gourmet versions I’ve ever tasted.

According to my daughter, the calamari was fantastic, as she polished off the entire dish. My wife and son each ordered steaks, and both declared them among the best they had ever tasted, which puts pressure on me to step up my cooking at home! My mom had a crab cake that she raved about, and my dad and I opted for burgers simply because we were in the mood for them. To my surprise, after having two excellent burgers this week, the one at The Grill was definitely the standout. We all relished our meals and appreciated the inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant—just be sure to make a reservation!
