Regine Dello Zio - Napoli

When we came here, the staff seemed really nice. They asked us if they should already cook us some appetizers and we agreed. It tasted really good. But later, we got the bill and they really charged a lot. They didn't tell us beforehand. So it felt like we were scammed. The food was delicious though!

Tourist rip off. Gives Naples a bad name. Thankfully only bad meal of trip. Antipasto at 8 Euros was a tiny plate of sliced pickled peppers and a couple small slices of eggplant. Wine was terrible. Knew we were from the U.S. so he didn 't care but I can write this review. Had a "trip advisor "sign on window so thought it wold be OK.

We got late in the city and needed a place close to university open at night: this restaurant was good enough to stop. Pizza is nice but not the best in Naples for sure. We had a good time indeed. Maybe the oven was not hot. The restaurant is very close to university and at lunch it is always crowded and full of students. At that time, 21.30 it was just empty so we had a very fast pizza.

We ate the Regine pizza which was tasty but looked like a stuffed bagette in shape and also an aubergine and mushroom pizza.The mushrooms were not fresh and consequently had no flavour.The house red wine was pretty good but was served cold. The service could have been better with menus and our empty beer bottle left on the table after our order and not moved throughout our meal. There were only us and another couple in the restaurant so there was no excuse. The cobwebs on the light fittings and the peeling wallpaper did nothing to improve the atmosphere. The staff were pleasant enough but a very average experience.

Wish I had requested the bill to be recalculated like a previous review! we were charged Euro50 for what appears to be a standard Tourist bill for a very poor starter and the worse pasta red wine of our trip. The good news we loved Naples, the owner may be jolly but I hope reports like this lose him custom, I will then feel that my loss was worth while!!. For all our other meals I had researched on TA and we had great value quality meals, this place was a last minute decision after a long day and wanted a place local, bad choice!!. We were staying very close to this restaurant and the following day we even heard the hotel reception advise another customer to take the funicular to the city centre as there were no good restaurants locally, obviously knows his stuff!!. I have advised the hotel that customers should be warned about this place. Only one bad meal on our trip so put it down to experience!!
