Mizutani Chaya - Nara

I had the mushroom Udon noodles and they were delicious. The place is surrounded by trees, the owners speak english and are really sweet. They had around 5 veg options. Highly recommended!!!

Food was decent. A good option to fill you up on your travels. Has 3 vegeterian udon noodle dishes that they can make vegan. I had wild vegetables and my partner had fried tofu. The vegetables were good and the broth was probably the best part. The tofu wasn’t that good imo. If you’re just looking to get your stomach filled it’s a hit, if you’re looking to enjoy your food it’s a miss.

You have 4 vegetarian options, and can choose hot or cold. I had cold mushrooms udon for ¥800 it was really nice.

I had the vegetarian udon soup noodles with tempura bits. It's delicious, my partner clarify with the owner for the vegetarian dish when ordering.

I got the Edible wild plants cold udon, and it was pretty tasty. The menu specifies items that can be made vegan, but you have to ask for it when you order (otherwise they add a non-veg broth/sauce). The cashier spoke very good English so it wasn 't an issue. After adding a little bit of soy sauce, my udon dish really didn 't feel like anything was missing. The restaurant is in a very nice location, and you can sit outside or at a table with a great view.
