Feedback gevenBeing from South FL born in Cuba we went to the café thinking well let's try it. Food was very good, as close as you can get. The Pan con bistec just like the one my mother used to make. My husband had the Cuban coffee excellent. While on vacation there we went almost daily for a good piece of our roots and excellent food. Love the place.
This was my second visit to Back to Cuba. The chicken empanadas are to die for!! And don't get me started on the black beans very yummy! I also tried the Chicken con Arroz with yellow rice and tostados. It was delicious as well! And the servings were enough for two meals! And to get an extra authentic taste of Cuba, an employee served me a cup of some sugar cane juice freshly squeezed before me while I waited as they prepared my food. It too, was delicious! GREAT food, I will definitely visit again and again!! :
Delicious and interesting food. You just can't get authentic Cuban food many places, much less Nashville, which is what makes this joint such a find. The food is wonderful; particularly the fried plantains, pulled pork mojo, and daily specials are always tasty. The price you pay is fair, and the portion sizes are more than fair for the price. Definitely recommended. On the downside, there are only a few minor complaints. The atmosphere is just average. There aren't many tables, so if the joint is busy, you may not have a place to sit (but I have not encountered this problem). I don't like that the place is cash only, but if you plan to go, you can plan to have cash on hand. Overall, a very positive experience each time I have been there.
We really enjoyed the food and the personnel. My wife had the Cuban sandwich and I had fried pork with black beans rice and yuca. All of it was great. Not the cleanest place in the world, but sometimes that's where the best food is. We'll go back.
Just two words, the best!
