The Taverna Naxos Island

Restaurant not visible from the street, because it is above the roof of a hotel. But which has the merit of being the best-known restaurant on the island of Naxos. You can go there without staying at the hotel in question. It’s a fantastic restaurant, a rooftop terrace offering a unique panorama of the city, the sea, and above all offering the best view of the sunsets. The waiters are incredibly friendly, the food is simply delicious, the service is fantastic, the waiters peel your fish for you, etc. We also had the chance to attend a little astronomy “class” from the owner, a real enthusiast, we could listen to him talk to us about the stars for hours He had us look at the full moon, as well as Saturn, through a telescope. Just a wonderful moment. This restaurant fully deserves 5 stars. Come without hesitation, you will not regret it. It clearly has the merit of being the best restaurant on the island. We randomly came across this rooftop hotel restaurant, sadly our excitement was short-lived. Despite the great panoramic view and kindness at the front desk, we won’t be returning, nor recommending. Once up there, the atmosphere changed completely, with one waiter verbally abusing and obnoxiously shouting at another waiter from across the rooftop, making all the tables super uncomfortable. The food was terribly greasy and bland for all five of us. And definitely not worth the price we paid. Sadly, we barely ate what was in our plates and didn’t even bother taking doggy bags. Staff noticed this and asked, so we politely explained that the food wasn’t great and why. At least they inquired, but our overall experience was very poor. Hopefully this review helps then make some changes to their menu. But most of all, to their toxic and stressful work environment.
