Royal Continental - Neapel

Was worried after reading bad reviews on service, rooms etc. Worry was unnecessary from our experience. Our stay was brilliant. Quick and polite check in. Our room was at side of hotel with great view of castle in front. Room was nicely decorated and felt modern/clean. House keeping excellent with fridge restocked each day. We visited during heat wave, so returning to the air cond room with the option of still/sparkling waters was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was fabulous. Lots of choice, great coffee's and brilliant views across Bay of naples. On an evening the street below becomes awash with restaurants, cocktail bars, live music etc, a really great atmosphere. There is a taxi rank at the side of the hotel, which is handy. We booked by Uber. Set charge hotel to airport 26.50euros (4 people and luggage). It's cheaper than getting transfer included with a holiday, which was £60 per person. Would be happy to return here.

This hotel is just horrible. the rooms are too basic for a 4* standard in 2023. don't know where they get the 4* rating from. you really feel set back to 60s, 70s and 80s when italy had it's golden times. nowadays just awful. the seem to invest zero money. the weirdest part for me was the swimming pool and the staff working there. how can you hire such dramatic 2 guys to work in your hotel and run the place? the guys there understand zero!!!! english, they cause a fuss because someone wants to just take a refresher in pool. why do i need a reservation for that if i don't want to lay or sit down? and why does anyone in 2023 still need a bathing cap? why is it 5 euros? update your pumps and drainages to a 2023 level and stop treating your customers like that! this whole hotel with the most complicated swimming pool worldwide, plus it's staff is just ridiculous. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Nice hotel by the sea with incredible views. Huge rooms with aircon and openable windows to a balcony. Mini fridge with complementary water was much appreciated. Bring EU to Italian mains adaptor. Plenty of restaurants nearby. It's a putty they have COVID style breakfast where you have to ask for everything. 20mins or more to get anywhere else takes a star from location.

Great views of the sea (but you pay the extra for it). Good location, but noisy up until midnight from outside sellers, traffic and resteraunts. Pool is advertised but you have to pay €5 per person per hour, even when you are a resident. The pool is tiny, and would be better utilised to keep fish in and serve as a poolside attraction (Exceptionally dissapointing) as this was one of the reasons we booked the hotel. Breakfast is average, controlled and served by staff behind Covid type perspex shields (July 2023) Housekeeping are very good, helpful and friendly.

This is our last day here in Naples before finishing our Italy trip in Rome. We booked this hotel because of the reviews and amenities, but would caution future travelers. When we arrived, our bed was partially made. We ended up placing the covers on, and there were very few pillows for a king bed with sea view. The view IS spectacular if you pay for the sea view room. However, there was so much lacking that we fail to see the value here. The remote for the TV did not work, and though wifi is supposed to be available, our signal was so weak that we could never connect consistently and therefore had to use more of our data on the international plan for our phone. The hotel advertises a pool, but we were informed that you must reserve it and also pay a fee, which is incredible considering the cost of the hotel. The breakfast is average, at best. While the hotel boasts a bar and other amenities, most were either closed or the schedule was spotty (i.e. the bar) The hotel is not close to many of the sites. You do need to hike to see much of the attractions. If you are here for business travel, I'm sure the size of the hotel is great. However, if you are traveling and want to see the heart of Naples, this is not the hotel you want. Overall, we would not stay here again if given the opportunity.
