When we came they asked if we were planning to eat, we weren’t because it was 5 pm. So they rejected us in an unkind way. When we later came back and told them we did want to eat some tapas with some drinks they accepted but told us they ‘we’re going to close at 6 pm’.Then when we ordered 3 starters, one pizza to share and some bread. The waiter sighed while taking our food and shouted angrily at his staff. it was clear it was about us after he swore after the kitchen and threw the menus on the bar. We are not really sure why they wouldn’t want to host us because there were other guests eating and drinking as well. I have to admit that the food was good, also not every staffmember was behaved badly.
Great place, friendly staff, great food never disappointed everytime we stay in Nerja, we look forward to drink and dinner greatings from Belgium Sonja Van Aerschot Johan Anthonis
Awful treatment by the staff. We were a large group of 3 tables mixed with adults and children. As one more person arrived to join our table the waiter was passing and our guest didn’t see the waiter behind him. This made the waiter burst out in Spanish( thinking we don’t speak Spanish) saying some of the most rude and disrespectful words you would use in Spanish language. Unfortunately several of us are fluent in Spanish. We replied in Spanish that this was not acceptable to which the waiter turned around and walked up to one of our group in a very threatening manor saying that it isn’t his problem that we understand Spanish and he is allowed to say whatever he feel like in his language and we should have moved out of his way. He continued to walk about the restaurant in arrogant manor. A few of our guests left as a result of it and decided to eat elsewhere. Typical restaurant that are used to serve tourists and not care about service or quality. Shame as the location is very nice and the food was also ok.
This is a beachside restaurant bar that we have visited on so many occasions since 2019, on our holidays to this part of Spain. We do love it here at this restaurant and we have started to built friendships with the management and waiting staff. This is a hugely popular restaurant bar; so to be sure of a table you should make a reservation. To prevent beachgoers from hogging all the seats for drinking in the comfort and shade, you can only sit in the main furnished areas (at least at busy times) if you intend to eat. There is a separate bar area within the building, that is right on the beachfront path where you can get drinks, but there is very limited seating there. We enjoyed the excellent and impressively huge salads particularly the Tempura Prawns. All salads are really fresh and crisp, but with the ‘Tempura’ the addition of a tablespoon of dry roasted peanuts worked so well; adding an extra crunchy texture. The sprinkling of sweet chilli sauce on this ‘Tempura’ salad added another dimension. It is worth the additional couple of Euros to get extra sweet chilli sauce, but do specify that it should be provided in a “small dish on the side”. Also, importantly, make sure you specify the sweet version as there is an appreciably hot non-sweet version which heralded a whole new and (to us) a less appealing taste. Also looking great was the ‘Sea Bream’, and the ‘Sole Wrapped Prawns’ (these plates are served with vegetables – we even saw sprouts served at another table). The burgers are also impressive and the fries are served in very substantial portions. Everything on the sizeable menu looks really good and inexpensive for the quality. It is no wonder that the restaurant is always so busy. Having recently discovered the joy of Albariño (a robust flavoursome Spanish white wine) we were pleased to find that this wine is served here. It is a dry and highly acidic wine; so full of citrus, particularly noted are grapefruit and lemons. This wine was delicious and inexpensive, and very, very drinkable. The nose and first taste may need getting used-to (it’s not as floral as a good Sauvignon Blanc), but persist and most wine drinkers with love it as we did. Importantly due to the daytime heat we always ordered bottled water (at least a litre between us). Drinking multiple glasses of wine over a two hour lunchtime, and then heading out into the hot and sunny conditions, could be a problem without taking-on at least equal measures of water. Service is fantastic here, there is a real team spirit led by the wonderful Mario. The waiting staff (who all speak very good English) are constantly on the go, and boy do they move fast! What we really liked was that they all look around at tables as they return to their stations, this makes getting orders placed for more wine or water or extra plates of food is mostly really easy, and then it is delivered promptly. Mario is the driving force here and he will be running the bar, then he is prepping ingredients for the cocktails, on other occasions he is waiting at tables. The work ethic displayed (as with all the staff) is fantastic and a joy to see. We invariably like to relax on the sofas that line the rear wall of the dining area. These sofas have low tables placed in front of them. We found this arrangement to be very comfortable and perfect for eating salad plates, and drinking (of course).
