L&g Southern Soul Food - New Castle

I have to say, the guy who took my order was very polite, patient, and laid-back. He was pretty cute too, haha. I ordered the number three: whiting, shrimp, and two sides—greens, of course, and yams. My daughter went for eight wings, mac and cheese, and six shrimp. I also treated myself to a slice of pineapple upside-down cake. The total came to $48.50, so be ready to spend a bit. As for the food, the fish was decent; I felt it could have used a little more seasoning and needed to be cooked a bit longer. The shrimp was okay, but the mac and cheese wasn't a favorite at all. However, the yams were definitely spot-on, and the greens were great too. I didn’t try the cake since I couldn’t finish my fish. Honestly, nothing was bad, but it just didn't quite meet my expectations for a soul food spot. I doubt I'll return, but if I do, it would be solely for the yams and greens. This is just my opinion, but I suggest giving it a try at least once. My main recommendation would be to season and cook the whiting a little longer.

I reach my aunts house after a 2 hour drive from NY and we was starving. I Googled places to eat and this spot came up a 2 minute drive from her house. I prayed black folk was doing the cooking and it sure was. I purchased food for 5 adults and didn't spend $100! Everything was delicious ?. The salmon was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The fried wings were delicious and gone in seconds. Yams, Mac and cheese and collards was delicious.

The quality of this food has gone down. Always check what you order. I will say the cornbread is good. Other than that. Don't go here. Go to: JUST TO SERVE YOU!! Located in Wilmington, De. The food is twice the quality. The portion size is double of what L&G serves. It is furthur to drive, but well worth the drive. Don't think I'll be going back to L&G......

Let's be honest: $15 for three chicken wings is a bit much for me. The restaurant is nice and the staff is friendly, but it's a bit puzzling that you can get a generous portion of mac and cheese for a low price while the wings are so overpriced. I'll have to pass next time.
