We all had the yummy pork vegetable and all the trimmings was great . Except the roast potatoes as they were just to hard to eat which was a real shame i hope that improves. Brownie Pudding was great my daughter was impressed. It's all served on a hot plate so the meal was amazingly hot.
This was my first visit to the restaurant since the change of ownership, and it will likely be my last. The service was not very welcoming, with a waitress who could use some training in customer service. The starters were served quickly and hot, but unfortunately the meal went downhill from there. The portion of fish I received was extremely small and the chips were frozen and limp. The Cajun burgers were mediocre at best. Overall, we all left feeling like we would have been better off going to McDonald's. Sadly, one member of our group became ill later that evening, possibly due to the ice cream not tasting right. In hindsight, we all felt like we should have complained, but didn't want to ruin the family gathering.
Booked Sunday lunch . Packed waited an hour and then left without eating. Apparently they were waiting g to services a larger group at the expense of the other patrons.
We went for dinner as a family of 7. Disappointed with the lack of kids menu. I have a fussy daughter and there wasn’t really much on the menu for her. Secondly the waitress was not the most friendly. Every time I asked her a question it was like I was being a pain! The food was ok, however I had to wait for mine and then it was like warm and also had to wait for my veg to come out. One of our party had hairs in his fish and chips. They did replace this as soon as we told them. Would I return for food? Probably not.
We had friends visiting from the north, and instead of cooking for them, we decided to take them to Elm Tree. Under the new ownership, Elm Tree has continuously improved each time we visit. The food and service were outstanding, and our friends even remarked on how fortunate we are to have such a fantastic local restaurant nearby, especially considering the recent flooding the pub experienced. Kudos to Paul, Deb, and the rest of the family and staff. We hope you receive the local support you deserve, as we definitely plan on returning regularly.
