Whether you wanted to relax and enjoy some good music, play games like cornhole or chess, or chat with friends in comfortable seating surrounded by a hint of lavender, this place had something for everyone. There was also live entertainment, and I have to give a shout-out to #WhiskeyBizness—they were fantastic! What started as a quick stop for a drink and a small bite turned into nearly two hours of enjoyment. One unique feature of this restaurant is that it's the only place serving a White Norton wine and one of just three on the East Coast offering a White Merlot. I've been off wine for a while, but I found myself enjoying only their offerings during our visit (aside from a few sips of my spouse's beers). I also tried some of their beer and really liked it. I'm a bit disappointed it's not closer to home, but I suspect I'll be back again!
The venue is very appealing. The service was excellent! I attended a Latin dance event and had a great overall experience.
What a disappointment this place turned out to be. We arrived at 11:00 AM and walked in, but no one greeted us or provided any guidance on what to do next. We approached the bar to request a tasting, only to be told by the staff that we needed a ticket. We had no idea tickets were required. Then we found out that tastings wouldn't begin until 11:30. At that point, we decided to leave; we weren't prepared to wait another 30 minutes. We had hoped to taste some wine and purchase a few bottles to take with us. Overall, it was a poor business experience with subpar service. I recommend going to Saudi Creek for a much better experience, service, and selection of wine.
The wines were fantastic! It was a bit unusual that we couldn't take our wine tasting glasses with us, as it's typically allowed at most wineries. The service, however, was exceptional. We did have to contend with a lot of bees and flies on the back patio, which was a bit of a nuisance. But we really enjoyed the brunch board accompanied by sparkling wine.
Overall, it's a pleasant experience, but here are a few points to consider: 1. There is a noticeable lack of Covid precautions. Masks are not required, and the majority of guests were not wearing them, even in indoor areas like the tasting room, food pickup, and restrooms. It seemed like it was business as usual, reminiscent of pre-pandemic times. 2. Food prices are on the high side. While price increases in food are understandable nowadays, a small shrimp cocktail dish is priced at $13, and snack boards can approach $30. The food was quite tasty and hit the spot after a few glasses of wine, but just be aware that this is not a budget-friendly outing!
