Some faves: Smoked Trout Appetizer Lobster Bisque Beer Batter Shrimp Linguini Bolognese Linguini with Sauteed Crab Meat Is your mouth watering? It should be. Go there and enjoy!
Average food (you won't be poisoned), minuscule portions at very high prices. Expect them to be out of lobster, crab and clams early on a Saturday night. Their trade seems poor (maybe that's why they're keeping quantity low), most other diners were older folks who have probably been coming to the place for years, when the food was a good deal better. Sorry, but you'd have to have a touch of senility to think this place any good. First and last visit, won't be back.
Made reservations for myself, other half and his family for Fathers Day. Called and made reservations Saturday evening. Arrived at 6, we took about 10 minutes to decide on what to order..place was pretty empty. Others started to come in and get their orders taken, they were served their appetizers and salads before we did....we got our salads around 7pm...then ever so slowly did our food arrive. Two warm rare steaks ordered, both overcooked. One shrimp dish came out like mush..only the swordfish came out moist as stated. All the potatoes and veggies arrived cold with the food. 3 of 4 people didnt check on #4) were sick after dinner....Service was unacceptably slow for the place being pretty empty. They did take back the steaks and cook them properly...but at that point no one was hungry and one was already feeling ill. Will not return and so upset this was the place we chose to come for Fathers Day dinner. I apologize to my other half : PS the prices online are less than the menu...just be aware they have not updated the site
What matters most is the food. Steamed clams (very fresh the broth was amazing) Sole with crabmeat (perfect) Price: Ambience: Cozy but a little too dark
I am sorry, but those giving this a 4 or 5 star review must not have eaten out much. I really wanted to eek out three stars here, as a relative of mine loves this place and had been going for YEARS and knows the owner. My first trip. For this area of CT, the prices are way too high. My brother in law and I both ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavlo, which I think was $26. Really, a skinny little plate with 5 shrimp on some pasta? And it was so not hot, we asked one waitress for some hot pepper, as our own waitress never came back. She said you want peppers? . No, hot pepper . We never saw her again. So we saw the red pepper on a shelf and just went and got it. Sheesh. Service was slowish, not overly friendly. Water glasses always empty. Bread and salad were acceptable, but certainly not in line with $26 entrees. If this had all been $15.95, it would have been a fine meal! The food was tasty enough all around, but its pretty hard to ruin such a simple dish. Ambience is nice enough, although randomly strung green Christmas lights do seem a bit low class. Maybe if we had been there later, and it was darker outside, we would not have noticed how tacky they were. Everyone was happy enough with the taste of the food, nothing odd. Just not enough creativity or uniqueness for the money I feel.
