I dined there on New Year's Eve and was shocked to discover that what I thought was a main dish turned out to be an unmarked appetizer on the specials menu. When I asked the waiter why he hadn't informed me it was an appetizer when I ordered, he was unable to provide an explanation. This left me awkwardly looking at my date's plate instead. He had the baked chicken with feta and rice. While the chicken was dry, it had a decent flavor. The highlight of the evening was definitely the rice. I don't plan on returning anytime soon.
I've visited Mondo multiple times, and I've never had a disappointing meal. One of our guests this evening was vegan, and the chef created an impressive vegetable plate for her. I had the ceviche and the burger, both of which were outstanding!
Ate a late lunch so restaurant was not crowded and mood was very relaxed. There was not a single thing on the menu that didn't look like a yummy adventure but I finally settled on a Cuban sandwich with a watermelon soup. It was as good as I hoped it would be. My wife had fish tacos which were served with an apple/carrot/onion/cilantro salad which were spectacular. My son had a pizza fired in their brick oven which definitely hit the spot. Overall it was a great experience.
I had no issues with the service. The parking situation was somewhat chaotic during the busy dinner rush, but there were plenty of options nearby. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, especially for those looking to explore some unique dishes.
