It's got it's loyal fans that meet on a regular basis to discuss one thing or another. I'm not the biggest fan, but then again I'm more of a hermit than a socialite. I'll find myself there enjoying a cold one perhaps 4 or 5 times a year. Christmas is a definite, and then birthdays, or other events that it's a must for me to attend. I have to say, it's not such a bad place. During the week days their main section is closed, a large outdoor bar with beds set up as small booths for the guests. (hence the name Duvet). The beds are an easy place to forget the world on a Sunday afternoon, and I've often missed dinner sitting there, talking and drinking. Their main bar, the one that is always open, is a little bit intimidating. Because of all the regulars that know each other well I can't help but feel like an outsider. Don't get me wrong, they are all welcoming people but I feel it's not the crowd that I'd get along with too well, mainly because I don't like to get drunk! The staff are great, quick, and friendly. The bar manager, a Spanish man, is probably the most well known person in the community, and the most liked. When you control the flow of alcohol you control the power, is what I've always said. However, to me there is little difference in standing outside Duvet than sitting outside 711. Apart from the obvious, prices, drinking out of a pint glass, and perhaps the music, I would have just as good a time sitting on one of the benches less than 50m away from the bar drinking alcohol 1/5th of the price! That being said 711 cannot host events like Duvet's big section does, open bar parties with a small dance floor, loud music, and happy people.
