Why? 1. The never seen before variety of sandwiches! This last visit I was too lazy to read the menu, so I asked for some thing with bacon and turkey and they have exactly what I wanted...by name! Feels like all the sandwiches were custom made for anyone! 2. The soups are da bomb . She would have at least 3 kinds daily pipping hot! People would just to take them home as part of their dinner! Which one 's my favorite? All of them but psst...try the Thai if you can 't decide. 3. The Chilli! This deserves a category on on its own! After my lunch, I took a large bowl home for dinner and transferred into a bowl that has gold Love you on it! Sometimes I add some cheese too! Even my pup can 't stop drooling ! Ok enuf said, just the !!!! 4. Value! The amount of potion and prices are not something that I can just go and buy from a grocery store and DIY! Leona puts so much ingredients effort in her food, including her famous scones and sweet treats that makes cooking myself seems like a chore. 5. The ambiance. I remember the first time I was there, the sandwich was delivered to me by a train! What a surprise! It brought out the kid in me! I notice the energy is amazing in this old tiny place. Patrons from all walks of life come and left with smiles or a vibe that 's happy (I don 't know how to describe that). 6. The heart . Leona Green is well known in the community for her charity work not only in the New West community but also overseas! I 'm amazed by her small profit (judging from her food prices and the food cost these days) yet, unselfishly give to those in need such as donation drives for Lytton fire victims, the homeless, free scones food to drive donation participations and 3rd world countries! It 's a shame that recently that she had to stop baking because her 16 yr old oven broke down. She can 't bake until it 's fixed or buy a new one which either way is a large expense. I really home that she will get the support she needs by having even more customers. Whenever I come, I feel that I 'm not Just supporting the locals, with Greens and Beans, I 'm supporting something even greater! Please take your time to view all the photos and even google this place! #deli #chili #sandwiches #bakery #soup #salad #supportlocal Kindly comment recommend your favorites from here! *This review was based on my personal opinion subjected to my taste, experience and expectations. Tried their peanut butter squares at a potluck. Seriously tasty, though who doesn't like peanut butter.
Their lease got renewed. Yay! This will be here for many more years. I finally found my favorite things to order here turkey Elaine and the peanut butter square. Turkey Elaine is like a thanksgiving sandwich as it has stuffing, cranberry sauce and turkey on a Kaiser bun. You can actually request to change the bread. I had it on sourdough when they ran out of Kaiser and I much prefer the sourdough. For a treat, the peanut butter square is a MUST! It is that good! Other places' versions do not come close to it. It is not overly peanut butter ly and the sweetness is just nice. I think there are Rice Krispies bits in the middle so you can a nice crunch. I think it is like a rice Krispy with peanut butter. It is near the hospital and many medical clinics. Pop by here for a meal when you are done with the appointments. The portion is normal so you will not be too full. They cater too, so you can also pre order for any office lunches or events.
Choo choo!! A train that delivers your food?! What an amazing little deli and cafe. My kids *loved* it. They wanted to order more delicious sandwiches and muffins just so the Canadian National would bring it to our table. There are an overwhelming amount of things to order on their menu so I went with a cheese croissant which was tasty. The staff is friendly and seem to know all of their customers. I'll definitely be back. Leona even let my daughter's sock monkey sit on the train for a photo! This place is a gem in Sapperton.
Wicked Thai chicken soup was very satisfying!!! This place hosted the soup nazi from Seinfeld as a charity fundraiser for fighting BC fires. The line was long but the staff stayed friendly and personable. After the long 2 hour wait met to meet The Soup Nazi the soup did not disappoint! I ordered the Wicked Thai soup. It was delicious! Next time in the area I will most definitely stop by for more Wicked Thai. Pleasantly surprised by this little hole in the wall.
