Pamola Bakery & Deli - New Westminster

Located inside the bustling River Market at Westminster Quay, Pamola Bakery Deli proved to be an unexpected surprise. We made an unscheduled stop here following sojourns along the Westminster Esplanade and Pier Park. After walking a few kilometers on an unusually clear November day,...we were in need of some quick sustenance and Pamola fit the bill. Open since this family-run bakery is touted as the “best bakery in New West” and features a delectable assortment of desserts and breads; however, unlike most bakeries, this one also specializes in authentic Mexican fare like tacos, tortas and burritos. Sound like an odd combo? I thought so, too, until I realized this establishment is run by the Fernandez family, originally from Mexico City. In this regard, the inclusion of Mexican cuisine makes perfect sense . . . and it also explains why many of the previous TripAdvisor reports give high props to the Mexican offerings. That said, we kept our order fairly light at just croissants and a beverage. While our order was small, I do have to give high marks to the croissants. They were light and flaky, as a good croissant should be. My croissant, which was stuffed with ham and cheese, hit all the right notes and satisfied to a high level. Indeed, it’s no wonder the Georgia Straight – surprisingly – gives Pamola a good word! Besides the good food, what also surprised me was the relatively decent number of reviews on TripAdvisor excluding mine). Typically these small food court establishments are lucky if they have reviews, so I’d argue that speaks to the quality of Pamola as well. Bravo! FOOD: SERVICE: VALUE: RECOMMENDATION: If you happen to be exploring the Westminster Quay, I’d recommend stopping by Pamola Bakery for a quick bite. The staff are friendly and the baked goods quite delish! Our croissants hinted at the quality this bakery produces and makes us curious to try other things. We haven't been to the quay for years! It was nice to stumble onto this little bakery! Fresh ham and cheese croissant and a spinach and feta bun warmed up made for a perfect light lunch! Delicious.

Excellent baked goods and Latin Foods. Super coffee stop with delilcious cinnamon buns and more baked goods.

I took two of my friends to this bakery today who were from a neighbouring city, and I was proud of the quality in the fare they were served. I have had coffee lots of times with the noteworthy banana muffins (I am enthralled with...them) but today I had the burrito. It was quite wonderful. My friends enjoyed their food (tacos) as well... I am glad we have them in our community... And before I close I'd like to say I have never eaten anything there that wasn't tasty. Also their prices are more than fair...

About as real as it gets for Mexican food on the Quay. Everything we've tried has been very good, freshly prepared and very reasonably priced. I especially like the soup with Tortillas, probably the best I've had. I just wish it was a larger portion....The staff is very friendly and helpful, too. Good baked goods, sweet and savoury. Not unusual to be surrounded by diners speaking Spanish. A good sign.
