If there’s a line outside, make sure that you chose the right line that says “cafe”. We stood outside about 20 mins and continued to stand in line inside for another 40 mins. It was worth the wait because they offer authentic German/Austrian foods and desserts. We had topfentorte which is a special yoghurt cake with fruits on top. To me it’s a little blend but many love this flavor which is lighter than yoghurt. We also had Schwarzwälder Torte (Black forest) and raspberry cake with poppyseeds. Their coffee is like European coffee, smaller and stronger which was great. We also enjoyed a hot chocolate.
I think this place is quite charming and has outstanding service. I came to this cafe with a group of friends and we wanted to experience German and Austrian food and of course, enjoy the renowned Sachertorte. Our server was very nice, helpful, and quick on her feet. The food was interesting and definitely with authentic German taste. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the cafe seemed to have a unique character to it. Overall we are happy with our visit!
Very nice restaurant especially if you get a seating in a booth. Food is good but on the expensive side.
Be ready for a queue, and a waiting time between 30min and 1h. I went around noon on Saturday. There is always a guard helping to do the queue, and guiding people in case they want to go only to the museum. I am not sure whether you can reserve (a friend told me that you must be a member or something like that, even when now I can see the button reserve table in Google perhaps it is good to try). Inside, the attention is very good, the desserts are tasty and the menu is limited (helpful to take a fast decision). The environment has a classic and elegant decoration. It is somehow pricey, but worthy for a special occasion.
