Yes the pizza here is delicious and it's very fast and friendly service too. But what makes Freddie Peppers special is the Chilean touch! Authentic, DELICIOUS Chilean empanadas. These ain't the fried dough with meat that most every other empanada spot sells. Chilean empanadas are baked. They are filled with grilled beef and onion and touch of raisin, stuffed with a hard boiled egg and amazingly tasty every single time. They also sell other Chilean foods, but the empanadasare what consistently being me back to the upper west side staple. Enjoy
My favorite neighborhood pizza joint. Been ordering pies and dropping by for a slice for the past 10 years, always friendly, delicious, fresh, and efficient. I strongly recommend their margherita (with fresh mozzarella and garlic and beautiful basil) we always order this delivered and it hits the perfect spot. Crust has that perfect NY chewy texture.
This restaurant is really terrible. I paid $65 for the worst pizza, pasta, and salad I've ever had in New York. I used to come here for slices often before the pandemic, but something has changed. The pizza was so chewy that it was hard to eat and the cheese was clumpy. The mixed-green salad was just basic supermarket lettuce. The pasta was so poorly made that I didn't want to take another bite. I tried to address these issues by calling the restaurant, but they only offered me a $10 credit. I won't be returning. There are plenty of other pizza places on the Upper West Side that are much better and cheaper.
Our hotel concierge at the Beacon recommended this tiny restaurant located below street level. It has two small tables that are only really useful for grabbing a quick slice. The slices and pies offer a unique twist on New York City pizza that is definitely worth trying, especially if you are on the Upper West Side. The crust is not too thin and has a satisfying crunch that is more like a grilled cheese sandwich than a cracker. The toppings are tasty, with the noodles, meatballs, and sauce being particularly delicious. The service is efficient but don't expect a fancy dining experience, it's better for a quick takeout meal rather than a first date.
