Indian Road Cafe - New York

I’m disappointed to see that the menu now features only a limited selection of pasta dishes. The choices are few, and the wine list is equally underwhelming. IRC used to be the top restaurant in Inwood, but it’s evident that something has changed.

During our visit to the restaurant, the service was surprisingly slow, even though it was only about 30-40% full that night. This has been a recurring issue for us on several occasions. We ordered a few salads and appetizers, but they all arrived at the same time. Additionally, the menu has been shrinking and becoming more limited, heavily featuring pasta dishes. I've noticed a significant decline in the quality of the café over the two years I've lived in the neighborhood, which is really disappointing.

I used to be a big fan of this restaurant for many years, but this might be our last visit. We waited about 7-8 minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. Even with reservations, our table wasn't ready, and we had to set it up ourselves. Some of our group received menus while others did not. We sat for 10 minutes without any water and no one from the staff came to check on us. The menu items didn’t match what was advertised online. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and the restaurant has noticeably declined. I don’t think it’s worth returning.

I used to really enjoy Indian Road Cafe, but my last two visits were disappointing. During one visit, the chicken was overcooked and the burger was cooked too well-done. On my second visit, both the pasta and scallops were overly seasoned with pepper, overpowering the other flavors. The waitress was not very attentive and it was hard to get her attention for simple requests like bread, water refills, and the check, even though the restaurant was not very busy. Overall, I won't be returning to Indian Road Cafe.

I recently moved to this neighborhood, and stopped by IRC several times for a drink/coffee to use their wifi before the internet was set up in my new place.
