La Pulperia 46th Street - New York

The menu was quite straightforward. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas, and my husband opted for the seafood black-ink pasta, which was a daily special. Unfortunately, both dishes were warm but not hot. In fact, the tomato chipotle sauce on my enchiladas was cold, although it had good flavor. The melted cheese on top had already begun to harden, and the shrimp inside were chopped into pieces smaller than half an inch and were virtually flavorless. My husband's black ink pasta was lukewarm, and the clams and squid in his dish were also cold. The sauce had a nice taste, but the accompanying piece of toasted bread was both cold and hard. By the time we finished our meal and settled the bill around 6:00 pm, no new customers had arrived for dinner, aside from a full bar.

Some of the cocktails were pre-mixed, which is expected at a bottomless brunch, but one drink in particular (La Loca) was too syrupy and needed some water to dilute it. The drag show was lively, with talented drag queens who definitely brought energy, though they may have seemed a bit tired since it was the second show of the day. The competition segment of the show encouraged guest participation and was a lot of fun. One downside is the seating arrangement, which can be tricky in this small restaurant. It’s designed like a long corridor, meaning guests near the entrance might miss out on the best views since the queens perform deeper inside. Also, keep in mind that there's a $10 reservation fee when booking, which is non-refundable against your food and drinks. Overall, it was a fun experience, but I’m not sure I would book it again.

This is a fantastic place for a pre-show dinner! The food was outstanding!

We went to the drag brunch show to celebrate a friend’s engagement and we had an amazing time the food was delicious, our mimosas were never empty, and it was a really fun show. We are going to go back for dinner highly recommend!

I took my mom to La Pulperia, and Sammy made her feel so comfortable. He was personable and kind and helped us make good choices from the menu. We both had a lovely experience. Thanks again for a great meal.
