Reservations are recommended but walk-ins are welcome. There is something on the menu for just about everyone and the chef is able to accommodate some food allergens as needed. I appreciate that meals come with a side of sweet savory taro fritters and dipping sauce to accompany it during lunch hours. The Som Tum Thai (Green papaya, peanut, cherry tomato, lime, long beans, dried shrimp, chili) as is has a good amount of kick to it. For those who prefer more heat, don’t hesitate to request it be prepare with more chilis. I also ordered Pad Cha Talay, a stir fried entree made with shrimp, squid, mussel, bamboo, eggplant, kaffir lime leaf, peppercorn, and krachai which is paired with a side of rice). Portion sizes of entrees here can easily feed two or one depending on level of hunger. The proteins and vegetables were cut, cooked, and plated well. My eyes were able to feast before my belly. I’ll definitely be back to try other menu items like the Grilled Octopus and Khao Soi (Northern style curry with egg noodle, chicken leg, shallot, preserved mustard green, cilantro). Quick tip: the online menu is great for those who want to see what the menu item looks like prior to orderingThank you TONG team for bringing a taste and feel of Thailand to Brooklyn.
Solid sit down Thai in an area that is dominated by local Mexican restaurants. Tong definitely has some Thai dishes that you’re not familiar with and I encourage you to try them. We had 4 dishes that were all tasty and will def return again when I’m not in the mood for the excellent tacos places in the area.
First of all, it’s a gorgeous modern industrial space. The servers were so sweet- they even gave us free shots at the end of the night. The cocktails are deliciously high quality, some of the best in Bushwick for sure. The Thai food was authentic, spicy, and super flavorful. I highly recommend the oysters and octopus.
Went here because it seems nice to go for a quick lunch. The whole experience was not good. Almost took a miss order for drinks and oddly did not allow us to share some snacks that comes with the main dish with those who did not order the main dish. Serving attitude was aggressive and rush(they are not busy) and did not explain cleanly for vegetarian who cares a bit more about ingredients. Did not feel respected. Also they included automatic 20% tip for the meal. Will NOT recommend and will NOT come back again for this place.
