This restaurant gets crowded on weekends with people eager to enjoy dim sum. It was nice to see my friends and meet their new baby. One of the highlights of dining here is that the dim sum is served from carts by the waitresses. We enjoyed sticky rice, steamed shrimp dumplings, shumai, ribs, shrimp rice rolls, and pork buns. The food was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. On weekends, there is a wider variety of dishes available from different stations for hot food made to order. However, the downside is the long wait times due to the large number of customers.
I had an amazing experience at 88 Palace. Unlike many other restaurants in Chinatown, it is tucked away and not easily visible from the street, keeping it free from the usual tourist crowds. Situated on the top floor of the 88 East Broadway mall, right beneath the Manhattan railway, the restaurant is spacious and allows for easy passage of the dim sum carts. The only downside is that it can get quite loud, so don't expect a quiet dining experience. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, with most dishes ranging from $2.75 to $3.25. The pork and shrimp dumplings were light and flavorful, while the baked roast pork buns were also excellent. The small portion sizes were actually a benefit, allowing us to try more dishes without getting too full. In total, our bill for 3 people, including 8 dishes, tea, and tip, came to under $35. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in town!
Dim Sum Yum is located in a Chinese mall under the Manhattan Bridge. It is a fantastic location to explore and offers delicious dim sum served from both carts and a little window in the front. YUM!
My friends and I had a dim sum brunch at 88 Palace Restaurant this morning. When I arrived at 9:30 a.m., I was one of five people seated at a large table. The restaurant was bustling with weekend crowds eager to enjoy dim sum. It was nice catching up with my friends and meeting their new baby. The highlight of the dim sum experience here is the push-cart service, offering a variety of delicacies. We tried sticky rice in banana leaves, steamed shrimp dumplings, shumai, ribs, shrimp rice rolls, and black beans. The food was decent, but nothing extraordinary. During weekends, there is a wider selection of dishes available from different stations serving freshly cooked items. However, be prepared for long waiting times due to the large number of customers.
