Came across Gorin Ramen on our walk on 14th St and notice their sign Try Out Signature Ramen the Soy Sauce Kitakata. We saw the sign ordered their Kitakata Ramen made with dashi chicken shoyu broth, wavy flat noodles, topped with Abrui pork chashu, onion, bean sprouts, and bamboo shoots. The noodles were cooked to perfection. The flavorful Abrui Pork was tender but the real star of the show was the Dashi Chicken Shoyu Broth. A savory and slightly sweet broth that has a soy sauce infused flavor. We also ordered their Fried Gyoza as an appetizer. they were like little pockets of deliciousness. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The pork filling is just satisfyingly flavorful. Overall, and great place to eat!
I got the spicy miso and tried the shoyu ramen and the spicy was amazing and def worth another trip. The other was much milder in flavor but I enjoy when flavor punches me in the mouth. Noodle texture was chewy and fresh so it didn’t feel cheaply made at all and wonderful soup. I’d skip the bean Sprouts though because it doesn’t add anything good to the experience of the soup. Final verdict : Def coming back
Delicious Ramen that comes fast to your table. I maybe waited max 5 minutes for my meal. Also, I asked for spicy and they delivered. The space is not pretentious and not blasting music. You order and pay by your phone which I really like. No waiting for a waiter to take an order, or to deliver the check when you're done. You can eat and leave. I will definitely be back.
Rating: 3/5 (34th out of 100) Location: Gorin Ramen is located within Gotham Market, situated between West 44th and 45th Streets. **Dish Reviewed: Soy Sauce Kitakata Ramen - $20** **Broth: 1/5** The broth was disappointing—salty and watery, lacking in flavor. **Chashu: 3/5** The ramen came with five pieces of chashu, one of which broke apart. The fat was well-rendered, the meat tender, and there was a delightful char, but it lacked glaze and was quite dry unless immersed in the broth. The second piece, leaner, was tougher to chew even after dipping. The third piece had a caramelized edge but was overly salty due to the seasoning. While the portion was generous, the varying flavors of the different cuts were notable. **Noodles: 5/5** I was very pleased with the thick, wavy noodles—just my style! They had a great bounce and chewiness, remaining firm even after being submerged in the broth for 19 minutes. **Side Note:** There was no egg included in the ramen. **Appetizers:** **Sweet Chili Karaage: 2/5 - $11** I received five large pieces instead of the advertised six. Unfortunately, the meat was dry, and while it was coated with a sweet and spicy glaze, it did not enhance the flavor of the interior. **Aburi Pork Bun: 2/5 - $6** The bun was dry and served at room temperature. However, the meat was delicious—fatty and juicy, with oil running out with each bite. **Total: $40.29** Overall, while there were some highlights, particularly with the noodles, several aspects left much to be desired.
