Souen East Village - New York City

Incredible mostly vegan restaurant! (Everything is vegan except for a few fish dishes). The food is very healthy, with no added sugars or artificial ingredients, and the desserts are not only delicious but as healthy as desserts can be! Just keep in mind that some dishes may be spicy. Highly recommended!

Without a doubt, this is the best vegan restaurant I've ever visited. Normally, I'm not a fan of vegan food, but this place really impressed me. The dishes are not only incredibly healthy but also delicious. The sauce for the sweet potato fries was amazing! I highly recommend trying the pesto pasta and the cashew Alfredo pasta.

I have been a fan of Souen for years, having visited their last two locations, and I've always appreciated it as a healthy and delicious restaurant. However, I wanted to check out their new location, and while we might have made some poor menu choices, I found myself less impressed than I had been in the past. We ordered squash soup, lentil croquettes, broccoli curry, and peanut tofu, but none of the dishes were particularly flavorful.

Souen is my absolute favorite restaurant for vegan dishes in New York City, and there's a good reason for its loyal following. They serve fresh, steamed vegetables with beans and brown rice, almond soup, and delicious vegan desserts, among many other options. Every time I visit, I feel like I want to order the whole menu because there are so many amazing vegan choices that it's tough to decide what to get. As a local, I come here regularly, and the staff is wonderful. If you’re ever in NYC, make sure to stop by Souen for a delightful meal!

The food was good, and the cold Kukicha tea was delicious and refreshing. Be sure to try the grain dish; it's hearty and brings back memories of the classic grain from the much-missed Angelika's Kitchen.
