There is a series of places in nyc that offer iconic nyc bagels that are like tasty, warm and fresh as they are lacking in a lot of food. a baptism of these places offer vegan strokes such as hummus, tofu spreads and jelly . most of these petty spots are not listed on happy cow; from any ground is sugar’s bagels. Note: the: tofu with nowa scotia has fish in it and is therefore not vegetarian. updated by previous review on 2021-11-17
The simple bagel and the entire bagel are listed as vegan and gluten-free. The simple bagel was sold out, and I don't like the onion taste in the whole bagel. I asked if there were other vegan bagels, and the person behind the counter said: Gluten-free? They did not seem to understand the difference between vegan and gluten-free. I was referred to someone else who assured me that none of the bagels have any eggs or milk in them, so I ordered a full-wheat bagel. I forgot to ask for honey. I should have just left. The place was dirty too. It was close to the closing time, but there was no single table that had a clean surface. I'm hanging pictures of the garbage. Is it just because I'm not from New York that I find that disturbing? Is that what New Yorkers find acceptable today? I really expected better: a clean place, more vegan options, and better informed staff.
Their vegan bagels are also gluten free come in two varieties, plain and everything. As someone who doesn’t need gluten free options I was bummed I didn’t really get the bagel experience. However, the tofu cream cheese was amazing!! I had the scallion vegetable option. My bagel with cream cheese was about $8.
